The real actual dog has Glaucoma or sumn. They did surgery to remove her eye. (Per sources)

That’s such a bummer - I know eye surgeons that are able to treat this kind of thing in animals but they probably caught the glaucoma diagnosis too late

It also confirms Dawg is a massive Metal Head, first Maiden last season, Now Ozzy. Next thing you know Dawg is gonna be blasting Megadeth (especially given Dave's retirement.) Shame we don't play Virginia Tech any time soon.

gonna address the whole chain here...
Michigan got the Judas Priest joke in last year's Preseason comic also, Dawg's threat to Clemson was inspired by Tailgunner's "Futures Lost" (y'all, check them out for real... their debut album Guns for Hire was awesome!)...
I don't think I've done any Rush lyrics before, but I did have the Starman tribute for Neil Peart back in the 2019 Dropouts Finale... man that one's so old it was back before the teams actually turned to face one another!
There was also the Iowa/Slipknot reference in last year's Dropouts... pretty sure you were the one who suggested that connection
and I've kicked around ideas for both Megadeth and Sabaton references in the last year or so... TBD whether and how those come about...

Cupcake games; Florida plays Long Island University (hence the Shark Flavor), Illinois plays Western Illinois (however leathernecks are not exactly bulldogs, but the physical mascot is)

"Cupcake Week" has been used to describe the SEC's habit of scheduling FCS teams in late November and A-Stu-Ute used to include team-colored cupcakes when he did the Poll Comic... looking back at his comic, I'm now realizing that my cupcakes look more like muffins, but oh well...
anyway, I haven't been as consistent with my cupcake usage in general as he was, and indeed there are several teams playing FCS opponents in Week 1 who didn't get a cupcake... I just kept it limited to my (now outdated) SEC/B1G schedule fight gag

I got a question about that then if you are using it for big ten and sec how come Oregon doesn’t have a cupcake as we have Montana State first (not that they are a cakewalk or that Oregon should be considered a Big Ten school personality wise)

like I said, I use the cupcake gag intermittently and, in this case, Illinois adds on to Gator who responds to Indiana posturing over schedules... the joke extended exactly far as it needed to, even if other teams could have arguably fit the bill as well

same... with Harbaugh gone, the old khakis design didn't fit anymore (and even he had abandoned that look a while back) and so a redesign was in order...
the pre-Harball design was just a blue body with a maize block M, which is boring as hell, so I took the initiative in creating this BiffBall design... as it so happens, I introduced it as a snarling monster in The Dropouts (easily one of my all-time favorite Dropouts), but I never intended it as a one-dimensional kinda character... as I see it, BiffBall is no different from any other team, though (to paraphrase Johnny Cash's spirit coyote on The Simpsons) after all, he is a Wolverine...

Miss Rev had a procedure done a few weeks ago in response to a glaucoma diagnosis and, word is that she had her right eye removed... there's a discussion about it here
