Emergency Flex Help

Just found out the Nate Sheppard is questionable for Saturday. I am going to put him on IR then decide later if I want to insert him into my starting lineup based on injury reports (if I can find any). My bench players are on bye or have bad matchups. Which of these guys might be a good option if it looks like Sheppard is going to sit: Micah Ford vs Elon, Caden High vs Elon, Jekail Middlebrook vs SMU, Trae'shawn Brown vs Tenn, Bryant Wesco vs Charleston Southern. It's a .5 PPR Power 4 league. The waiver wire is pretty slim. Thanks.

You are that thin at rb? I think he’ll play. But if not, Wesco should do well. Clemson aren’t good enough to bench starters, even against a small school in Charleston. He’d at least play the 1st half and get some impressive numbers before they swap to backups.

If you want to play it safe tho, and get a guy who will be running the whole 4 quarters, Middlebrooks. Only issue is he’s had limited road game exposure so hard to tell what his usage will be.

Most people don’t know what the fuck they are doing in college fantasy. It’s a changing landscape and even if experienced somewhat, they’ll miss on alot of picks. Just go with your gut, and hope for the best

I don't think I'm thin on RBs. But, Aiden Flora is on bye, Adam Mohammed is on IR, Sheppard may be on IR, Another RB has a bad matchup, and 2 of my RBs are in Flex. I have 6 bench spots with 3 on bye, a 2nd QB, and 2 bad matchups. I could play one of my bad matchups, but if Sheppard goes on IR then I get a free player. I thought that some of those matchups look better than what my bench has. I think Sheppard will play, but I'm trying to cover all of my bases. Thanks.

If he’s out, I’d just grab his backup - Campbell. He’s not as good as Sheppard obviously but if Sheppard is out, he should have a good game and is an easy drop after the game. Personally, I think there’s like a 90% chance Sheppard plays

Of the options you listed, I like Ford best then Wesco.

Yes, I think that Sheppard will play. But, I want to have a backup plan just in case he doesn't. Thanks.

So, one thing I've learned that coaches are being told by the conferences that if they have a player that misses a practice during the week, they are being told by the conference to put that player initially as "questionable" on the injury report.

A lot of the players who get higher reps in games, and take hits, which are typically running backs, receivers and quarterbacks will either not practice a day during the week, or not at all one day.

The key is monitoring the subsequent injury reports that come out tomorrow, Friday and then on game day. If you see a questionable guy move to probable, and then off of the list, then that's good. If you see them stay at questionable as the game gets closer, that's more concerning. What you don't want to see is them go from questionable to doubtful.

This all being said, my guess is Sheppard missed a practice this week to help keep him fresh for the upcoming game. He's logged a lot of carries and taken a lot of hits.

I wasn't sure how the injury report stuff works. Thanks for explaining it.
