Oh wow that’s the old Urban Outfitters location, been vacant for a long time. Glad to see more businesses leasing space on South State.

Really wish they'd bring back the Gap

Gap just opened a new factory store on State Street where Express used to be.

Oh, I'll have to check that out. I really miss the flagship store.

So close to their original location — Where Primark is — it was quite a party when they opened that place! Here’s a fan recap of the performance by Donna Summer:

Old navy is pretty legit these days. Cute stuff.

the old old navy was one of the few public bathrooms on that street that didn't require a purchase or key or running around trying to find it. hopefully this is the same.

Yeah u gotta know where they are but usually hotels will have bathrooms and there’s also bathrooms in block 37

You can also just walk into any full service restaurant, tell the host you’re grabbing a seat at the bar, and then walk to the bathroom.

A smaller Old Navy still beats another dark storefront on that block. The south end of State has felt half empty for years, so anything that pulls weekday traffic back down there is a win.

Thank god. 75% of my kid’s wardrobe is either Target or Old Navy. This makes it super convenient to get stuff after work now.

I'd rather it was Marshal Fields.

Hope the bigot preacher guy with the megaphone doesn't hear about this

I’ll let someone else ask the question that everyone is wondering.

Okay, I'll be the one: is Pope Leo going to be okay?

I read a comment that said when they find tumors like that early and remove it all surgically the survival rate is really high - so that was nice :)

Will the Old Navy Preacher return?

Oh it’s obvious now that you say it!

That is his rightful place in this city. I wouldn’t feel right if I visited an Old Navy on State and not told I was going to hell.

I might go out and buy a pack in his honor

Yes, but a downsized version.

Great, now we're gonna have an eight year old shouting us to hell.

And to think State Street was once known for prime uniquely Chicago department store shopping. Now in 2026, the population is excited for an outlet of a tired nowadays overpriced national chain store in this once sacred stretch of retail. Sad!!
