I'm completely obsessed
Guys I can't stop thinking about this series
a perfect match for me, you know when everything in the books brings you joy? Yeah that's what I'm feeling
How did I find the series you may ask
It was AI, yes I speak with AI I'm so insanely obsessed over reading that I just.. I ask for recommendations, anyway
(It's not that bad because it got it's recs mostly from reddit so...)
I was looking for something steampunk but at the same time with a whimscal vibe you know? Something similar to ghibli movies, but like.. the big weird looking howls castle or the vibes in castle in the air something bright and wonderful, something similar to going to the amusement park and riding a roller coaster
I love the megalomaniac aspect of the whole thing, the big heights, THE AIRSHIPS, the politics, the characters.. everything is just so so so much fun
Some other things I relate to the cinder spires:
Treasure Planet!!!!!!!@@!!!!@!!!
Arcane
The mirror visitor quartet
AND THE AUTHOR JUST TOPS IT ALL WITH CATS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Omg I love reading so much, it just heals my soul
The book is not even written in my native language and I'm learning a lot of ship terms lol but it's completely worth it pushing the language barrier and enjoying this amazing story
I'm reading the Olympian Affair now
I don't usually talk a lot about stuff cause I'm shy but here I am posting this
Someone said there's no fanart.. well I got so sad about that I BOUGHT A FREAKING NOTEBOOK AND STARTED DRAWING
I'm obviously never showing my art to anyone because it's horrendous and my brain always ignores character physical descriptions and I just go crazy with my imagination so they are some incredibly inaccurate portraits
My fav character is Benedict, who's yours?
Please let's talk about it!!!

This was exactly my feeling when I first read this book. It was my first ever Butcher and I loved it. Now working my way through Dresden files which I love as well and has the benefit of having many more books.
I didn't love the Olympian Affair as much as the first one but it might be a middle book issue. I would continue to read for sure if more books are published. My fave characters are Gwen and Grimm. Honourable mention to Rowl

I agree, this series is so unique in so many ways (the setting, magic system, technology). It’s so funny what draws different people to it—I love sailing and naval history, so the airship warfare in the first chapter had me hooked immediately!
But after the last book, favorite would have to be Grimm or Gwen. Benedict is great, though.

I agree they are great books. I started reading The Dresden Files, and enjoyed Butcher's writing style so much I worked my way through his other series. I can't wait for the next book. The Olympian Affair drops some pretty major world building and story points, so I just know the next book will be crazy.
For favorite character it is hard to say. I think they are all interesting in their own way. After the second book I would have to say it is Grimm though. He really shows off how much of a badass he is in that one.
