As if those things weren't scary enough with their projectile immunity
I never thought about using barriers this way, though wouldn't that only work in one direction?
Not like I'm gonna use it anyway, since every time there is a nuke wand somewhere a random hisi is guaranteed to pick it up and fire at a rat closest to me1
u/jMultiversalGod 18h ago
yeah it only works in one direction, so it is very stupid and bad

u/AzzyDreemur3 16h ago
Dude you figured out how to direct a nuke, and do it safely (and that's a rarity in Noita). I bet you could easily kill Alchemist or Squidward with this beauty

u/jMultiversalGod 10h ago
it oneshots both of them (which btw, noita is not balanced whatsoever, get piercing, homing, and any sawblade and you can kill every enemy that isn't outright immune to sawblades (which is a few)
1
u/AzzyDreemur3 10h ago
Yeah but you are not immune to it either
1
u/jMultiversalGod 10h ago
i mean technically you can give yourself 100% projectile immunity
1
u/AzzyDreemur3 10h ago
Don't sawblades also deal slicing non-melee damage or am I misremembering?
1
u/jMultiversalGod 9h ago
idk but both melee and projectile have spell modifiers and therefore can be 100% tanked

In DND 5th edition some enemies were immune to non-magical weapon damage, so standard swords, arrows, and punches did nothing unless they were magical.
So a group of low level characters against a werewolf had practically no options if someone wasn’t a magic user or happen to have silver weapons.
It did not matter if the Human Fighter shot a handgun 4x into the werewolves’ head, if it’s not the above then 0 DMG
However the key note is “weapon” damage, so throwing a werewolf off a cliff or drowning it in a nearby river could still kill it.
Why a giant hitting with force of a missile can’t do anything but smashing it’s head in with a lit torch works requires tons of convoluted reasoning a Game Master has to justify why the former doesn’t work.
“Oh it’s because werewolves regenerate”
“Actually because magic curse”
“The skin is so tough it can’t be pierced by mundane weapons”
Which every point just opens an even bigger can of worms of other technicalities the GM and game company did not want to deal with.
“Okay if it’s because of magic what happens if a werewolf is in anti-magic field? Does it stop healing?”
So 5.5th edition straight up removed non-magical weapon immunity to avoid this whole narrative headache from all enemies.

It's also funny when it happens at the other end of the damge type spectrum.
In Pathfinder: KingMaker there are golems variants such as the autumn golem wich is completely inmune to "Spell-like abilities" no matter their power.
So if you hit it with God blessed light, primordial lightning, abyssal fire or beams colder than the heath death of the universe, it will just brush it off. However you can get a guy that throws boiling water really really hard wich does work. God I love kineticists.

No no, in SMT it repels and does enough damage to immediately kill the protagonist.

Its all fun and games until the boss spams Megidolaon
6
u/Wiindows1 19h ago
Not if I Megidolaon first! (I never do, because I always gotta hit mind charge and rakunda before I do anything)

I entered a challenge battle in SMT5V and it was against a slime and I think a fairy, I buffed the hell out of Dagda and weakened the enemy as much as possible and watched Dagda do his unique move expecting complete obliteration. Immune.

Coaxed into Epic Battle Fantasy, also making the target heal from the damage type if their resistance is over 100%.

Tbf, lasers DO inflict heat damage irl, it is in fact the only type of damage laser weapons are capable of and given that this thing does not even destroy cloth barricades it is basically too realistic to speak odd of it. As long as the mechanoids have some sort of solid-material optics protection they won't even be blinded

u/I_follow_sexy_gays Dr holocaust cultist 3h ago
I feel like since it’s able to melt solid steel walls it should be doing at least something to mechanoids. Like at least apply a unique “overheated” medical effect that like lowers consciousness by like 30 for a few hours
