LA Comic Con LA Comic Con had AI art

I went to LA Comic Con this weekend and WOW I saw more than a couple of anime and other booths with AI art. Absolute GARBAGE, why is this being allowed is the love for art being replaced with greed? Why cant Comic Con do something about it please this is so sad to see.

If they featured an AI Stan Lee, they obviously don't care.

That was the corniest thing I’ve ever seen. And the fact that it was ticketed? Come on man

They can’t even let the man rest in peace. Disgusting

If it makes you feel any better they hardly had anyone at their booths. But yeah, I agree. The amount of re-sellers and AI art this year was pretty bad.

Dragon Con did remove a seller for having AI art. Other cons have taken actions.

Doesn’t really help when you make this post after the con ends without even saying who

I’m a vendor, we asked about it last year as there was plenty of AI art on the floor. We were told “AI is the future of art so we better get used to it”. Now, this doesn’t affect what I do, but it affects my friends.

So, I vended at Salt Lake Fan X instead this year.

Report this shit, tell them you’ll no longer attend if they continue to not vet their vendors/artist alley of AI. The only way to get them to stop is by threatening their bottom line.

Seen a few booths at London and Birmingham Comic Con with AI art and some outside artist alley clearly just taken art from online and made an A5 print of it. Just one of those things its best to ignore and make it known it shouldnt be allowed, personally dont like when a vendor just has 3D printed things that they obviously havent modeled themselves, obviously selling prints of art they didnt make and the vendors that just do lucky bags.

The "Stan Lee Experience" was AI. The fact that AI art was present is not news.

Yeah I didnt have a chance to fully inspect the artist alley, but. I DID notice a few booths with clearly AI art.

Anime Expo and SD Comic Con had a lot of AI art as well :(

I was also there. The amount of AI slop was awful---but not surprising, considering one of the main attractions was an AI STAN LEE.

Conventions dont care if the art is AI since the vendor already laid the fee.

Only reason a convention cares is if it hasnt been commericalized and cares about the culture and fans.

It's infecting everywhere. FanX also had AI art on the shirts at the NovaTees booth.

The solution is simple. If you’re tabling at a show where AI work is being allowed, go on the offenders webpage, make copies of their work and undercut their prices, if it’s that good. AI art can’t be copyrighted and can be replicated for free.

Good I’m tied of seeing trash art at conventions. Those artists are a waste of docking space and convention floor space

Everyone keeps saying this but I’ve seen absolutely zero photos and didn’t see any walking around. Can you name the booths or vendors that had this?

Thanks to whoever downvoted me for asking a question. Let’s hold the vendors responsible!

are you a ai expert or no? if you cannot legal show it was ai in a court of law.

it would be slander. if anyone wondering.

Lol the am a ai experts of art. Getting mad. For stating a legal fact.

13

u/PartyWanted Sep 30 '25

No one is. Fuck AI slop and anyone promoting it.

-16

u/firedrakes Sep 30 '25

my point is people claim ai. need to prove it. cant just bs talk on it

7

u/PartyWanted Sep 30 '25

It's pretty clear at this point what is and what is not. If you cant tell thats on you. Most still have the telltale signs, lines that dont work, incorrect shading and perspective, a similar look to the see of others created with a similar prompt by "artists"

-14

u/firedrakes Sep 30 '25

lol. its not. you need to do better research on ai gen art. you cant tell the difference now. . but knowing you and others. they wont dig into the research on it. it just hate everything ai.

4

u/PartyWanted Sep 30 '25

Keep telling yourself that lol

-2

u/firedrakes Sep 30 '25

Expect insulting comment. Got to love to i never research ai art each year.... know it alls

You should reread and edit what you write before trying to sound intelligent.

OP didn’t even name the booths responsible. Get off your knees, and stop licking AI-generated boots.

Art is subjective. Just because you don't like AI art doesn't mean other people don't like it.

19

u/PimpRobot818 Sep 30 '25

Objectively, AI 'art' isn't art.

-7

u/Idnetxisbx7dme Oct 01 '25

Aside from the usual derogatory terms, what is it, then?

12

u/PimpRobot818 Oct 01 '25

Slop. Fucking slop. Who does it offend? A robot?

2

u/PartyWanted Oct 01 '25

They prefer the term clanker lol

14

u/PartyWanted Sep 30 '25

It has no place in any conventions. Keep you slop online and buy it there if you need to, dont fuck over the hardworking artists that depend on conventions.

6

u/refreshed_anonymous Oct 01 '25

OC compared how people view AI-generated images to how people view the Mona Lisa.

Lol.

-11

u/Idnetxisbx7dme Oct 01 '25

ROFL. What hard-working artists only depend on conventions? If you have the ability to draw something and draw it well, you certainly have the ability to hawk your shit online, just like everybody else. If you're that good, and you can't have an online presence on some bullshit social media site, well, that's pathetic, and maybe you deserve to work at Walmart instead of Marvel or DC or Dynamite (you just need to draw tits for them) or wherever.

5

u/PartyWanted Oct 01 '25

How much did you spend on ads last year? What was your roas? Please tell me more about small business marketing amd how easy it is, since you are clearly the expert. I can answer all thoes things.

7

u/waawaaaa Oct 01 '25

It's not art, its also a massive slap in the face to vendors in artist alley who have dedicated their time and money into a trade and turning a hobby into a business. When buying from artists you want art, not some slop thats poorly made with no imagination, theyre just in it for money.

6

u/Great-Gazoo-T800 Oct 01 '25

There's no such thing as AI art. Art takes effort, skill, passion, creativity and time.

11

u/refreshed_anonymous Oct 01 '25

It isn’t even art. It’s slop. AI humpers need to stay out of conventions and craft fairs. You all are sad and talentless.

-3

u/Idnetxisbx7dme Oct 01 '25

Well, to begin with, you need to stop making assumptions. I'm not sure who "you all" includes, but it isn't me. Actually, I don't give two fucks either way. But by definition, it is art, just not your little corner of the world.

Some people call the Mona Lisa boring. Still art. Some people find Picasso to be strange and confusing. Still art. Some people don't like AI. Still art, to some people. If you don't, don't buy it. Simple as that.

9

u/refreshed_anonymous Oct 01 '25

Well, to begin with, you need to stop making assumptions.

No.

it is art, just not your little corner of the world.

It isn’t art. It’s slop. Slop made from talentless hacks.

Some people call the Mona Lisa boring.

Comparing the state of AI-generated images to the Mona Lisa is peak ignorance and arrogance, as well as completely insane. I didn’t expect much of an intelligent argument from you anyway, so no worries there.

lol
