Sharpie is the standard bearer, but at my last con a lot of folks were using the Posca paint markers, tons of colors and various sizes. Had a few things signed by them with no issue

Posca still take way too long to dry compared to Sharpies paint pens.

For ballpoint and gel pens, look for ones that are leftie compatible. Those indicate very fast drying ink and aggressive anti-smear.

I’d warn against using anything this “sharp” on a comic. Even the thicker foil cardstock. These often will leave an indentation and can damage the book. Unless you are signing a think paper like giclee prints or interior pages, I’d stay away from pens that aren’t also markers.

Sharpie for both regular markers and their newer paint pens are the s-tier option. They are fast drying, reliable, and come in any color you could possibly want, while adhering better to virtually any comic or collectible material across the board.
