NYCC - New York Comic Con 2027
What additions/changes would you like to see at NYCC 2027? What changes did you notice that were made after NYCC 2025? Do you think that each NYCC outdoes the last?

Changes from 2025: I’m glad some artists got booths on the show floor as opposed to artists alley last year! Also I’m glad Viz got some friendlier and more polite workers, last year was a mess.
This year unfortunately I noticed a lot of mishandled panels, whether it be room size or letting people in way earlier than in the past … hope they fix that up for next year. Also definitely noticed it was more packed than previous years and there weren’t as many interactive booths.

Please, they need to start capping how many ppl can attend. I know that's like an insane concept to them, to not squeeze as much blood out of the stone as they can, but it's becoming ridiculous. IDC if there's a lottery system, queuing, idk some ppl will just have to miss it. Sucks, but that's life. Hell, I might be one of the ones to miss it, I'm fine with that. The con is becoming unenjoyable due to how crowded it is.

This year was my first con and the sheer volume of people made it really unenjoyable for me. Walking anywhere was a nightmare. I definitely felt like there were too many people in attendance.

No strollers on the show floor. The space it takes up is ridiculious.

Yes! And I even saw someone with a giant baby wagon. I was actually getting worried about the safety of small children.

Dc Virtual Queue- good idea, needs work. Sadly finding out the day of the signing doesn’t give much time to react for out of towners. Could I have brought books from every one I signed up for, yes, did I? No. I signed up for almost all of Sat signings because they were all good but lugging around a stack of books to start the con before I buy more would kill my back. at least now I know. My friend had no problem finding a Peach M book to sign but others were a thrash. Which leads to-
Need more vendors w new books. I miss Midtown being at the con. Heck, the DC booth could have their own shop. Which leads to -
I got a text at AFTER a signing started that I was now able to go. I was at the far corner of Artist Alley. I made my way as fast as I could through the crowds on Sat but didn’t have time to look for the artists new book along the way. After waiting at a non-moving line for a good long while I realized I’d never make it to a panel I wanted to see so I split. Which leads to-
Getting multiple texts for different signings one after another and replying “1” afterwards. Did that apply to both? Heard that caused issues.
It was a first year so there were bound to be bugs so hopefully they get worked out because it’s a cool idea.
As for the bottlenecking? Surely someone has figured out a better layout system for other conventions there. Thinking about passing on Sun next year because the show floor and block areas were worse than ever in spots.
Better signage. I’ve been going for years so know the lay of the land but have read lots of complaints from newer folks.
Better panel room selections. Or clear the rooms. People camping in the panel previous is a well known tactic. So now people camp in even more earlier panels they have no interest in. Clear the rooms so people get to see panels they really want to see.
The badge hassles/scammers who loiter outside were coming in the upper entrance.

Midtown not having a booth is insane to me. They had a great one for so many years.

They had a pretty big footprint. Everybody was complaining about how expensive it was to be there… the cost was undoubtedly outweighing everything else.
I know a couple people who were running around trying to find current books to get signed.

I’m hoping that we get some new vendors on the show floor and that the vendors we already have who return have different things. A lot of stuff felt familiar and I’ve only gone now for 3 years.
There’s still things I haven’t done that will get me through next year too I think, but it’ll only be my 4th Con. How long do I have until I experience all the show floor has to offer? They gotta change it up.

They need to sell like 10% less tickets. Ive been going for 10+ years and this is the most insane ive seen the crowds.

- Clear out every panel in between. Smallville should have been cleared for Godzilla.
- More places to sit. The only real seating is in the River Pavilion and most people couldn't go.
- Sunday specific -- don't force everyone to walk all the way down the road in the pouring rain just to funnel everyone through two doors. There were other doors, that was unnecessary
- Better panels overall. Let's do better. And not everything needs to be a damn promotion. More things like the Nick Cage panel please.
- More staff at choke points. Let's get some of the crew members to keep people moving in those dumb AF sections where it becomes impossible to walk just some jerk stopped too long to look at something

No...Godzilla should have been in a bigger room like Main Stage.
They did this foolishness before with Godzilla.

u/agnostic_dude 7d ago
Yes they either needed to do a bigger one or clear it out. The Smallville thing still pisses me off

I wound up missing the Godzilla panel. Seems it was a good thing I did. What was the deal there?
1
u/agnostic_dude 7d ago
The deal was that hundreds of people were lining up for it an hour or more in advance. But most couldn't get in because the assholes at the Smallville panel didn't go anywhere when the panel was over

Really? That's fucked. I could understand letting a few ADA people stay, but wow. They need to do better. I'm sorry for the people in a previous panel, but the room should be completely emptied and force people to prioritize what they want. I hope people brought this up at the staff q&a Sunday afternoon

Yeah in the NYCC subreddit some people were defending this like it's their blood right to do 3 panels in a row

But think of the influencerati and the other "pros" who need the entirety of River Pavilion to do God knows what. That used to be a nice staging area for Cosplay and Community events so that there was mixing going on and one wasn't exclusive to another.

To the first one, I saw tons of people on this subreddit recommending to people that the best way to ensure that you catch your panel is to go to the previous panel and stay.

1) I agree with this to a point. The only exception would be for VIP as they paid extra.
2) I also agree. I've been going for a decade and this has always been a problem
3) the staff, exhibitors, VIP, and ADA do have their own entrance as well. I do feel more should be done.
4) I absolutely disagree with this. There were plenty of amazing panels. Not all of them were on the Empire or Main stage. The Terry Brooks panel was awesome and a great way to celebrate his final NYCC appearance (his words)
5) 100% agree but I doubt it'd help all that much. The biggest nuisance this year were "influencers" blocking areas or asking people to move so they could do their TikTok videos. Some of them were either were oblivious of their surroundings or didn't care

“Smallville should have been cleared for Godzilla” sounds like the first line of a pretty good crossover

On 4, i’ve been a Saturday attendee since 2016 and watching the quality of panels happening on Saturday dwindle has been nuts to me. I have not been to a panel in years because they never have anything super eye catching happening on Saturday anymore, it blows. It’s 100% because they know Saturday will sell out either way, so they stack the other days to sell more tickets (and this goes for autographs too!) and it really sucks. I work full time and travel 4-5 hours to have fun on one Saturday— why does that get me (and so many others in the same situation) punished?

My big addition would be more free water stations and making it easier for vendors/exhibitors to setup digital queues, so that lines don't spill into walkways

All of the filters on the water stations they had ran out by Friday evening.

For Javitz:
Better wi-fi
Better food selection and larger food court
Better AC
For Reedpop:
Better ADA rules. Make people give you a note from a doctor (doesn’t have to specify what it is).
Get a panel sense of what the big panels will be and put them in bigger rooms (like Godzilla).
Better spacing of the bigger and busier booth to help traffic flow better.
Vendors:
Go to a QR or lottery system for signatures and exclusives.
Cap the lines for signatures and exclusives more often.

I'd like to see security crack down on those obnoxious carts!

This is kinda minor, but the sponsor video in the Empire Stage was so loud it made my ears hurt. And how many people even speak Japanese/vs reading the subtitles anyway re how loud it was (the one for the walpurgist was the loudest).

Enforcement of the no smoking outside the doors. There was nowhere to go for fresh air. People were leaning right in the no smoking signs having a cigarette.

The cunts that work in the autograph section need to let people line up according to when they get there regardless of when the signing starts.

Autograph lines on the show floor and artist alley were out of control. They gotta figure that out lol
