I'm on the Autism spectrum, and i'm high functioning and mostly know enough to know **not** to act or say something that's rude and shitty to a voice actor. Being on the spectrum is not a excuse for intentionally shitty behavior.
A person is mid-functioning level of autism that has obvious behavioral issues **need** to have a guardian/guide/family member with them to help guide and regulate there behavior out in public.
It's also infruating to me that there are some azzholes that try to claim/say their "iM aUTIsTIC!" to try to excuse their shitty behavior or harrasment of female cosplayer.
FFS I'm on the spectrum and i have A LOT of anxiety just approaching or trying to talk to women in the first place, excessively worried i come off as a "creep" or that they think i'm a creep, when I just want to socialize and make friends.

I really don't like Helluva Boss. I think it's a really annoying show.
But she's spitting straight facts here and I respect it

Could you explain the exact logical connection between a tiger mauling, autistic individuals, and 1940s geopolitical history in under two sentences? Break down the mathematical overlap for me.

Might I recommend a gentle unbunching of your pantries, followed by a spell-check? Thanks, champ.
By the way, as a non-American, how much do you get paid to live this miserable existence?

1000 things to do and see that day and this guy thought the best use of his time was to harass people and ruin a panel for fans of the show. How is that a positive thing for you?
This guy was a jerk.

Security should have calmly told him to get himself together or he would have to leave. Honestly if you have autism and you can't handle yourself in public, you need to get an aide/friend/family to be with you. My nephew has autism (Somewhere between level 1 and 2). He has better emotional regulation as an adult, but as a kid, someone always had to be with him.
However he heard about this after we left the con and said "I would never do that."

Its crazy to me how we all collectively learned that the stuff we used to do at cons like glomping and whatnot was bad and we shouldn't do it, yet somehow we've reverted back to being cringy and inappropriate in other ways.

This is generally fine, but people with tourettee for example shouldn't be excluded from public spaces just because they might be disruptive.

I don't think this person had that. He was delibrately yelling. Tourette is uncontrollable tics and sounds.

Man... we got rid of all the fun bad behavior at Cons: the wild parties, the drinking, the hookups... just to replace it with worse behavior. Cons now are so cowed with fear of bad press or being seen as "unwholesome" that they're allowing people with the Autism card to run riot.

No, there are still fun party cons that the heathens is plentiful at, comic con just isn't one of them, never has been.

“If you can’t control yourself, you shouldn’t be there.” That’s a pretty gross statement, in my opinion. I guess I also don’t understand going to comicon to interact with fans and then getting mad that a fan… sung to you? Is it annoying? Sure. Is it so annoying you have to bring down people? I don’t think so.

The person in question heckled and interrupted specifically the female cast members at least six times during the course of an on stage panel discussion. This person was disruptive and was ruining the presentation for all the other audience members. If they can’t control themselves, they shouldn’t have been there.

Words mean things.. how else should I take saying autism doesn’t excuse behavior?

It's because of the behavior in question. Did you watch the whole video? The person they're talking about was NOT "peacefully enjoying their time," he wasn't harmlessly stimming, he was harassing fellow attendees and causing disruptions at a panel. I'm autistic myself and I agree with what you're saying, however I also vehemently agree that autistic adults should either be able to control their impulses and carry themselves in a way that doesn't negatively impact others' experiences, or stay out of overstimulating environments if they can't exist there without doing stuff like this guy did.

The problem isn’t people with autism. It’s people who aren’t autistic claiming they are to get out of repercussions of bad behavior! So taking a stance of “autistic kids don’t belong here” is fucked.
I don’t know where it started, but somewhere along the way people started acting like autism is a trend. blaming all of there shitty behaviors on autism that hasn’t been diagnosed. I know this. However saying they don’t belong because of one of these autism larpers. … idk man.. seems wrong.

u/Enough_Back3637 2d ago
That's the thing, nobody said autistic people (kids or otherwise) don't belong. This video is basically calling out exactly what you said: people using autism as an excuse for shitty behavior.

u/FunnyMalzairIdea 2d ago
This person was heckling, not vocal stimming. They had a thought out agenda and were prepared to ruin an event for everyone. It's irrelevant that the asshole has autism, he's still fully an asshole.

u/potheadbill 2d ago
Oh I know. But taking out frustrations on the autistic community for the actions of a likely self diagnosed “autistic” person is foul

u/bisexualboy38 2d ago
It's a good thing nobody here did that then. Btw I'm autistic too, if you're a shitty parent that you allow your kid to disturb others through loud vocal stims, then you shouldn't fucking be one. Also, funnily enough (ironically), she isn't actually peacefully enjoying her time if she's being loud enough to disturb others. She's being disruptive and you've failed as a parent. Autistic doesn't mean incapable of learning and understanding. Stop being a shitty parent and be better for your daughter's sake. Because all you've done is teach her to be a selfish person who cares nothing about the rest of the people she shares the planet with.

The heckling was at the most important moments too. And different statements each time. One of the ones towards the female cast were borderline sexual harassment. It wasn’t vocal stimming and certainly wasn’t random.
Also they had to stop the panel multiple times, which meant less people got to ask questions at the end, so it did reduce the experience for everyone, not just the cast.

I’m not disagreeing. I’m saying it’s wrong to say autistic people don’t belong because of a dick. Because that’s what this person was.

u/Precarious3145 2d ago
That's not what they're saying. They're saying if you can't control yourself, you shouldn't be there. I say this as an autistic person but so many people think that just saying "I'm autistic" is a get-out-of-jail-free card and almost all of them aren't actually diagnosed autistic but just took some online test and made it their personality.
They're saying that if you can't help yourself from doing inappropreiate things in public such as harassing someone, then you shouldn't be there which is fair. It's one thing to have tourettes where where you can good 90% of the time and then 10% quirks but if you're at a convention and think it's totally normal to sexually harass women in line, then you don't belong there regardless of what's going on for the safety of everyone.

Let's watch that again with some comprehension please? Seems defensive and quick to anger. Probably not helping your kid.
