Ladies, if a man says, "I'm not political", he is political but just knows that you'll leave if he tells you what he thinks of a woman who can make her own decisions.

"You're "just not that into politics?" Your boss is. Your landlord is. Your insurance company is. And every day they use their political power to keep your pay low, raise your rent, and deny you coverage."

And that's why I don't have the energy to be into politics. I barely have the energy to roll out of bed to drag my ass to a job that doesn't pay enough.

the combination of complacency and pain is by design. not everyone can actively fight it but you gotta at least try something

It is what it is. Not like I could make a difference when I wasn't even smart enough for college.

Making a difference is a lot more about caring and showing up than being "smart" or going to college. Though, I do understand how exhausting and intimidating it can all be.

What difference does "caring" make? So something bothers me. It won't change just because I care about it. People change things because they have political power, or they can develop or implement something to change it, not by just caring.

There was a democratic flip in a historically republican city a year or two ago because about 8 people cared enough to show up and vote. It was a small thing that took them like half an hour and it completely flipped the political landscape in their area.

Not every improvement has to be large scale, especially at the start.

You're more likely to act if you care. Are you upset that people go hungry in your city/ state? Volunteer at a food bank. Do you care about a political topic? Protest, vote, help sign petitions for state bills, go to local meetings, etc.

When you care, you can help other people care. It's not an all-or-nothing situation. Do what you can, and you'll get better at helping.

Half the people who voted for Trump weren't smart enough for college, and they made quite the difference

They didn't make any difference, they were just tools in the hands of the people who did. And the people manipulating those tools had college educations, you bet. Being able to make the people dance to your tune is where the power to make a difference lies.
