Yes, this really happened. Yes, someone pointed out that he was friendly. No, I don't care how nice he was. What do I do with the tip money? No clue

Worked for them in high school. (Now I realize that it was 20 years ago). Such wonderful people.

79

u/confused_person4 Aug 07 '26

Being in high school 20 years ago? I could never imagine....

Oh no...

6

u/juzanartist Aug 07 '26

Lol. You better hope it happens otherwise it means something else

6

u/chefboyrdeee Aug 07 '26

I had to count as well… 😭

2

u/Xanthelei Aug 08 '26

Welp. This made me count too... Also 20 years ago. I'll be in the corner turning to dust

9

u/slowest_hour Aug 07 '26

i just turned 40 recently, it came as quite a surprise to me too

3

u/ReasonableDefense Aug 07 '26

Holy cow I did not connect your comment to the correct information at first and was really surprised! Instead of the trevor project I thought you were referring to nazi's so I was like "holy crap, you worked for wonderful nazis?!? and people are upvoting you?"

475

u/EvilHordeRules Aug 07 '26

I second the Trevor Project. I think it's critically important, in these times, to support suicide prevention.

times when queer(especially trans and poc) people are facing massive increases in violence and hatred directed at them and have become the main culture war issue as bigots rave about how we need to be exterminated and our "allies" compromise and say we should just be tormented and driven to suicide instead

[deleted]

13

u/hydrationgirl Aug 07 '26

then you haven't paid any attention or are willfully ignorant of it

7

u/SpaceToot Aug 07 '26

What's worse is violence against trans individuals is not only rising, but lethal violence is what's rising. People are killing people over this.

-4

u/Own-Cranberry-8210 Aug 07 '26

Or the ADL

7

u/Catteno Aug 07 '26

the adl is a hate group tying themselves to antisemitism harming the Jewish community by poisoning the waters allowing people to claim antisemitism is disparaging Israel and Zionists in any way

176

u/NickU252 Aug 07 '26

Tip a drag queen at brunch.

14

u/soIDONTLIKEANYOFYOU Aug 07 '26

You think the Nazis would hate fashion?

38

u/NickU252 Aug 07 '26

I mean who wears olive drab with a red arm band. I get it gives a pop to color, but come on.

2

u/Secret-Ad-7909 Aug 07 '26

It was designed by Hugo Boss…

1

u/AbeRego Aug 07 '26

Actually just manufactured by his company. Apparently not actually designed by him.

https://berlinexperiences.com/mythbusting-berlin/did-hugo-boss-design-the-nazi-uniforms

13

u/0w1 Aug 07 '26

Have you seen how they currently dress? shudders

4

u/ElectronicFloor1898 Aug 07 '26

Seriously, a red baseball cap with a business suit?

4

u/robyn_nests Aug 07 '26

The fact that the word "currently" is necessary is questionable, yet understandable. They may have been the most evil people in the entirety of history, but I sadly must admit they had drip, and ruined it for everyone else.

3

u/AbeRego Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26

One of the appeals of the original Nazis is that they had some style. Their uniforms were designed to project power. That's part of the reason they were dangerous; young men wanted to look like them. Most of the aversion them (that style) now is just due to the fact that most people hate Nazis for extremely obvious and justifiable reasons

1

u/Pyro-Millie Aug 08 '26

This is the way

55

u/Quaraine Aug 07 '26

NOT STONEWALL, they are utter dogshit and have soft gone back to being trans exclusionary. Good law project has issues but are meaningfully push back on the segregation order

22

u/Roku-Hanmar Aug 07 '26

Well that's unfortunate

9

u/Quaraine Aug 07 '26

Yeah  I feel like there's almost no org willing to push back on what's happening

4

u/Maxrdt Aug 07 '26

Well Austerity International tried... and got threatened by our favorite litigious pos children's book author.

7

u/Quaraine Aug 07 '26

They're a huge, international org. They didn't have to give up immediately, uk division could have retrcted then repub in another country

5

u/Maxrdt Aug 07 '26

Oh they definitely should. I sent them a terse email about it.

2

u/ntermation Aug 07 '26

too bad you're not also a litigious pos childrens book author?

1

u/Cunnyfunt31 Aug 07 '26

Wait, which Stonewall are you talking about? I tried looking it up and couldn't find anything about that.

3

u/Quaraine Aug 07 '26

They just rolled back their advocacy and language, their  chair who was trans and only there for a few years just got replaced by someone who praised jkr in an interview in what seems like is an attempt at.  n obeying in advance  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anticipatory_obedience

The splc should do nicely.

96

u/Smitjoe666 Aug 07 '26

I thought that l was an i and I was very confused by your comment for a few seconds.

52

u/action_lawyer_comics Aug 07 '26

Souther Poverty Law Center to anyone else still confused

1

u/PM_ME_UR_WUT Aug 07 '26

Aren't they the ones that called Elon's Nazi salute a "Roman salute" to try to wave off the controversy?

22

u/zadtheinhaler Aug 07 '26

Same, it really should have been capitalized.

16

u/David_Haas_Patel Aug 07 '26

Southern Poverty Law Center, I assume?

3

u/zadtheinhaler Aug 07 '26

Yes, precisely.

4

u/quinnito Aug 07 '26

Lowercase L should have a leg curving at the baseline. I’m tired of trying to figure out if something says Weird Al or Weird AI.

2

u/zadtheinhaler Aug 07 '26

I mean, there are a few flaws with the "western alphabet", but that is right at the top, I agree wholeheartedly.

3

u/roachsgirl Aug 07 '26

Same. I was like damn. That took a turn.

2

u/RogueNightingale Aug 07 '26

I feel better knowing I wasn't the only one. 😅

1

u/ispshadow Aug 07 '26

So I wasn't alone on this one lmao

11

u/ralpher1 Aug 07 '26

They’re under attack by the justice department so I second this

-1

u/Llama_Legend10 Aug 07 '26

Yeah give the SPLC the nazi money so it can go right back into the nazi’s pockets…

2

u/toot_suite Aug 07 '26

Elaborate

0

u/Llama_Legend10 Aug 08 '26

SPLC is currently under investigation for providing funding to KKK and white supremacist groups like neo Nazis. Members who have chosen to leave have been convinced to stay and put on the payroll of the SPLC. Obviously the verdict is still out but that is a direct link to donations providing funding to these groups.

1

u/toot_suite Aug 09 '26

That is wild considering all that they do. Have any links? I'll look it up too

18

u/Own-Beginning5144 Aug 07 '26

Or keep it. In this economy money is money

-5

u/Fun-Recover-7766 Aug 07 '26

Don't we give your people enough compensation-?

3

u/Cpnbro Aug 07 '26

Hoooly shit bro what?

2

u/toot_suite Aug 07 '26

1

u/arourathetransshork Aug 07 '26

"Your people"???

39

u/GonzoTheGreat93 Aug 07 '26

I’m Jewish and LGBTQ. I’ll take some.

6

u/Hetares Aug 07 '26

Basically like how they tortured Tech Knight in The Boys

2

u/Roku-Hanmar Aug 07 '26

Never got around to it. Any good?

3

u/Hetares Aug 07 '26

It's basically just fetish gore and debased superhuman sex every episode. Not worth it.

3

u/OhmigodYouGuys Aug 07 '26

Or the local synagogue

2

u/The_Pastmaster Aug 07 '26

The German publisher who owned the rights to Mein Kampf before it went into public domain anonymously donated all proceeds to Jewish charities.

2

u/DLTMIAR Aug 07 '26

This is the only answer.

If it's dirty money don't give it back (or keep it), clean it.

1

u/Golden_King_Ryuseii Aug 07 '26

Stonewall sounds like Blackrock, bad idea.

1

u/imwimbles Aug 07 '26

if you are just anti nazi and use that money to better yourself, it is a charity that nazis would hate.

1

u/urmamasllama Aug 07 '26

I suggest task force Butler. Named after Smedley Butler. The retired Marine Major general that stopped the business plot. They're a group of retired vets that take down fascist groups

1

u/Noctisvah Aug 07 '26

Yes, like donating to help the genocide victims in Gaza

u/Spikemountain Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26

You're the top reply so I'm going to pick on you for a second, but I don't mean any of this in a mean way, and I don't even mean this at you specifically because it's everyone these days.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Stonewall is a wonderful charity (I'm not American so I've never heard of them). That being said, though the Nazis targeted many groups of people including LGBT, their main target was of course the Jews. For everyone else it was like "well while we're killing the Jews we may as well try to kill these other groups too".

So my question is - when you're looking to suggest the perfect charity to counter getting a tip from a Nazi, why is Stonewall the first to come to your mind rather than one that works to fight antisemitism or a Holocaust museum or a Jewish community center you support?

It's not just you - the top three or four replies all suggest charities that have nothing to do with Jews. It seems to me that when people these days think about the question "why were the Nazis bad?" The answers these days are more like "Well they were hateful, and I don't believe in hate" or "they were basically the start of the alt-right and the right sucks" or "they were just like generally evil" or "they were fascists".

But no. Those things aren't wrong but they just miss the point. The worst thing the Nazis did was kill 2/3rds of all European Jews (1/3 of every Jew in the world) in the span of 6 years. The number of Jews in the world today is still less than the number of Jews in the world just before the start of the Holocaust.

LGBTQ absolutely got killed by them as well, but the only group that the Nazis actually seeked the complete elimination of was the Jews. So I'm sad that of the four charities that got recommended in the comments, none of them were a Jewish charity. Or even a Jewish LGBT charity!

u/RadicalSoda_ Aug 07 '26

Ernest Röhm was one of the most decided of the SA and he was gay. The homophobia in the Nazi ranks was to oust Röhm, sorry to tell you that there were gay Nazis that helped them gain a lot of political power

2

u/Roku-Hanmar Aug 07 '26

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_homosexuals_in_Nazi_Germany

There's a literal Wikipedia page on Nazi homophobia. I doubt it was performative. Even then, neo-Nazis are absolutely anti LGBT

2

u/RadicalSoda_ Aug 07 '26

Again, Ernest Röhm was a gay Nazi. It's pretty obvious that he was a Nazi even though he was gay. You don't accidentally join the SA

1

u/idlegadfly Aug 07 '26

Yes, and they got rid of him because he was gay and they didn't need him anymore.

2

u/RadicalSoda_ Aug 07 '26

It was explicitly done to eliminate the SA from gaining too much power in the party. If him being gay was an issue he would have been kept out from gaining such a position to begin with

2

u/idlegadfly Aug 07 '26

They did purge the SA partially to curtail it from gaining more power but for Rohm specifically being gay is a big part of the reason they offed him because he couldn't stay out of headlines and major backers hatred him for his sexuality. It wasn't as big a deal at first because he was so useful and very few people knew. Rohm was terrifying in his fervor, ruthlessness, loyalty, and ability. That got him far. But they still saw him as a degenerate. His sexuality became an open secret and the more it became known, the more it became a liability. The Nazis keeping an extremely useful guy around until they didn't need him anymore is a very bad argument to use to insist homophobia wasn't part of the ideology. Case in point: i t's worth pointing out that the Nazis changed Paragraph 175, the law criminalizing homosexuality, in 1935 to include (among other things) mere intention to "excite sexual desire" in other men and to allow simple accusation to stand as evidence in order to make persecution of gay people easier. It was also deemed a felony. Convictions under the new Paragraph 175 were increased from hundreds per year in the Weimer Republic to thousands. They literally saw it as a moral disease to the Volkskorper. Nazi media called homosexuals "enemies of the state." Himmler was particularly happy after Rohm was shot because he believed Rohm was attempting a gay takeover of the party (not just the SA gaining power, but gays). Like this is all well-documented and extremely well known so I'm not sure why you're trying to insist they weren't violently homophobic outside of straight-up lying.
