Had a customer rant to me about Juneteenth and how "the wrong race got a holiday" and the banks should be open. Dude, you're in a grocery store, please stop being racist to me 😭 I'm being paid minimum wage for this
I mean, I complain about our company’s executives sending out emails about how they want to recognize the importance of Juneteenth, but that’s because they send it just a few days after the email reminding us that it isn’t a paid holiday and anyone taking the day off has to use a vacation day or work a different holiday. I’m not even black, but it definitely feels like they want credit for acknowledging it’s existence while their actions are saying “it’s not a real holiday”
TBF while I know less about your company than you I feel like there is a good chance they aren't against recognizing Juneteenth because they are racist but rather because they would prefer if workers didn't get any holidays at all.
