The Taliban wasn't in Iraq, they were in Afghanistan

Iraq was insurgents

Iraqi Freedom was against Saddam for the WMDs that weren’t real.

It was certainly against Saddam, but the IEDs were largely the insurgency

Yeah sorry, I was agreeing that it wasn’t the Taliban.

Oh no they were, just that they were chemical, and we gave them to him to fight Iran in the 90's.

The most certainly did find WMDs in Iraq.

Of course, all of them were stamped "Made in America" and had Reagan's name on the paperwork.

Bush Sr's name, not Regan's.

That's what I get for going off memory. I thought the WMDs predated Desert Shield by enough it had to be Reagan for the WMDs sold to put down the Kurds.

Ah it's fine, old age gets us in subtle ways.

If only they went with bringing him to justice for bombing a city of ~50k of his own civilians with chemical weapons in the ‘80s….it would have been difficult to argue against that justification for the war.

They were. Chemical weapons are WMDs. Bush just deliberately traded on the fact that everyone hears "WMDs" and assumes that means nukes.

2

u/gopher1409 29d ago

The public knew it was mostly chemical weapons. But yes, they sold the invasion on dirty bombs and yellow-cake.

That STILL doesn't invalidate his statement.

Chemical weapons ARE WMDs.

Just not the explodey, irradiate the land for ten thousand years kind.

ISIS and ISIL in Iraq

2

u/Xerorei 28d ago

They were in both.

ISIL grew out of the remains of Al-Qaeda that were In Iraq.

So basically a spiky caterpillar cocooning and coming out an explosive butterfly of hatred.

They were in Afghanistan. They're still there, be they were there, too

Alright. It's been 15 years.

So we shouldn't have to fight the propaganda disinformation anymore as the facts are as clear as they ever will be. Then clearly point out how bad the media is and that's it's even worse today.

If you ever need to realize just how effective our American propaganda machine is.

The Russians copied us after WW2.

WTF are you on about? I just acknowledged that it's been awhile and I don't remember the detail of the war any more.

1

u/Historical_Shop_3315 28d ago

That's how the media operates. They want you to focus on the current controversy with many unknown and not how they have been lying to the American public for decades without consequence

Jihadist Islamists also works….

The Taliban (ISIL) are also insurgents.

An insurgent is anyone who rebels against authority or an authortative government, typically with acts of extreme violence.

Below is the definition as a noun.

A rebel or freedom fighter who takes part in armed resistance against their own country's government or authorities.
