They lost their entire lives. Nationalized houses were privatized and the tenants forced to pay or be evicted, nationalized companies were either privatized or destroyed, so many people lost their livelihoods. It's directly responsible for the far right shift in young east Germans, because they've been the left behind by the west. Jobs disappeared, housing got unaffordable, and the west ignored them while they swam in money.
people are scared of what they dont know. Thats the uncomfortable truth. Eww immigrants next door. But if they would spend 1 minute with them and realize.. they like the same movies. Wait you like (idk what baseball or what).. oh nice? People just cant get over their fear. Our most right winged state (Sachsen anhalt) is the one who has least community from immigrants AND least amount of economic power in germany. They are loaded with pre done "magerga" fear. I dont like many of their opinions but i also am emotional intelligent enough to see WHY and what you realistically need to do to change it. But they need to move their hearts a bit. And the state needs to push for "normal" people again. on a core level its very basic. But "springer" makes enough money with hate so..well
