Doubly so for the alcohol.

I dunno, I had a pint of cider in 2022 not far from Paddington Station, on my way to Cardiff. I almost cried when I paid the bill.

London has Scandinavian alcohol prices, the rest of the UK is more reasonable.

There are places in London with more normal UK prices [albeit, still above average] they're just nowhere near the train stations - station-weighting covers a significantly larger region in London than most other cities.

Not just London, my mother-in-law paid £13.80 for two pints of ale the other day in the South West!!

Anything near a train station is insanely inflated, even moreso in central London.

But there must always be balance in the force, the 99p pints in northern Wetherspoons make up for it.

Oh yeah? Wait till you see the prices up here in Scotland!

Depends on the bit of Scandinavia tbh, Swedish prices maybe but half a litre in Norway can set you back like £10

I dunno man I live in London and even in my wildest Zone 1 dealings I was never as shocked at the price of beer until I got a half pint in Oslo in 2023

Go to a Wetherspoons, genuinely one of the few places where you can still get alcohol cheaply.

Rest of UK is catching and in many cases has caught up to London prices for pints.

You get a 25-50% markup just for being near a mainline London station.
