Why? It's just unappetizing, so I was shocked that someone prefers untasty bread as a staple food. Like, you have a choice! Free will!

We don’t eat it plain you heathen. Jam, marmalade, peanut butter. Even just regular butter.

Toast your bread before putting a filling in you sandwich adds a nice crunch to it throughout

Edit: to be clear nobody eats it plain. Even if it is plain you use it to dip into your sauce etc. try it. It will blow your clearly very limited mind

Okay, even if we imagine that Britain is the single place on Earth where people invented toasting bread and/or combining it with butter/jam… I’ve been to England and I was introduced to all the ways of eating toast bread.

That’s exactly why I found it shocking. Like the toast bread itself isn’t stuff that is worth eating more than monthly, but the idea that “adding the jam makes it mind blowing” is just sad. It’s okayish breakfast for hurried morning once in a while, but that’s it.

So yeah, Brits have gorgeous traditional cuisine. One of my top-5 favorites, I’m studying it again this year, to expand my repertoire.
But it’s seems that many Brits skip it and mostly chew on sad bread. I don’t understand.

We never said it’s mind blowing and it’s not like our national dish or something it’s just cooked bread, we didn’t invent it. It’s weird that you never considered it.

I dunno if you get told this a lot but you’re a strange person.

Like. I’m English I’m telling you’re wrong and you’re doubling down.

Sometimes I’m told that I’m pedantic. That’s true.

Speaking of which… you can reread your previous comment and see thar you literally said that trying to dip bread into sauce, quote, “will blow” my mind. Also you were rude and your comment is built around assumption that I’ve only tried some plain bread. Which is honestly unlikely.

My point was: toast bread is awful bread and not really a meal and I was shocked that people in England do actually eat it often instead of proper rich British food or baked goods.

Your point about various (also mostly plain) stuff that you can add to plain sad bread isn’t actual rebuttal. Rebuttal would be something: “oh, you just had some unlucky experience, usually we don’t rely on toasts often, we actually cook food daily”.

But I got only “but toasted bread is glorious!” comments. Which I can respect as subjective opinion, but it’s one of the reasons why British food is catching strays despite being actually good.

Yes, I understood that you are English. That’s why we are discussing this.

I said it would blow your clearly very limited mind not that it was mind blowing.

Other than that I really can’t be arsed to read whatever nonsense you’re saying. Have a nice life 👍🏼
