I like Voyager too. It was one of best ST starting episodes I've seen it.

Better than STTNG and DS9.

Ooh controversial choice.

You know what, agree to disagree, but I do get where you’re coming from. Voyager was really good and several character were very compelling like Tom Paris, the Doctor, Janeway herself, and 7 of 9.

I also really loved seeing Prodigy giving more room for Chakotay to shine as he wasn’t really developed in Voyager.

Yeah, hard to say that peak voyager episodes were better than peak DS9. Even in average aggregate voyager seems subpar to TNG, though I found it much more approachable.

Also the lows were really low in VOY. Janeway had warp 10 sex with Paris, that is enough said.

Though one of the funnest episodes come from VOY. both centered around the doctor. One where he commandeers the warp core, and the one where he gets day dreams.

Warp 10 lizard sex, grandma's lover's ghost sex. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Yeah TNG lows get there too lol

Are you going to argue that Threshold is lower than Shades of Gray?

I'd have to go rewatch that, TNG episodes are my least rewatched. I think mostly it suffers from weird tonal shifts that just happen repeatedly through the series. At least VOY is consistent with its technocorn.

I rewatched both recently and I was surprised how consistent VOY was from the very start. Much better than I remember. The few outright bad episodes it has really aren't that bad (not even Threshold) and every season has a least a couple great episodes.

The sum of the show is alright I guess, it just feels in comparison to DS9 the character development is basically missing. After awhile I feel like VOY becomes the Doctor and Seven show, and it felt like they gave up with Harry and Chakotay around season 3.

Granted they do the two parters really well, and other than the show being filmed in a format that makes it impossible to really remaster it holds up quite well.

I mean the Chakotay story primarily started out with the internal conflict of the crew. It's hard to keep that relevant for many seasons given the nature of the show is bonding through extreme hardship without any outside assistance to bank on.

I guess, but DS9 was a totally different kind of show compared to TNG & VOY. A lot more experimental at the time, focusing on serialised arcs instead of standalone bottle episodes.

VOY for me was the TNG formula but a bit more refined. Most of the time anyway.

The insistence of VOY to start off in a stable position by episode 2 was bypassing the premise of the show and was such a huge missed opportunity.

You are right it feels like a more refined TNG and it should not have.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love STTNG and DS9.\ It took me a awhile to "get it on" with DS9, since it was very different from anything being done at the time.

And what they say about STTNG is true. To me the series really start after the borg attack on federation space and Com. Riker clashing with Lt. Com. Shelby.\ It was the end of 3rd and start of 4th seasons, if I'm not mistaken.

But Voyager? I dived in from the start and loved the show.

Voyager had some real rough patches but I enjoyed it overall

Voyager really took a positive sharp turn when Seven replaced Kes
