- Cheaper than to build a wall

  • Keeps the room filling bigger
  • Most people will think its nicer to look at and, because its an hotel, people aren't staying long enough to get angry at the obvious downsides

In that order of importance

I can not think of a single person I know who would walk into a hotel room, see a glass wall bathroom, and think to themselves "oooh, how fancy! A trendy glass wall, now I can watch my partner taking a shit before bed! Oh, and the room feels so much bigger, too!"

I also don't think a tampered glass panel the size of a wall is cheaper than plasterboard, either.

This is intentional hostile design.

Why would they do intentional hostile design?

Im not entirely sure, you would think that since they are in the industry of hospitality, they would want to make their rooms as comfortable and hospitable as they can, if for no other reason than better reviews and returning customers, but in this world of late stage capitalism, maybe they've decided they don't need good reviews or happy customers. Why bother considering what the customer wants when people will use your hotel regardless? The only logical reason I can think for a bathroom that is so blatantly invasive of basic privacy, is to discourage people from sharing rooms and sell extra rooms once people see the glass wall and complain

"I'm sorry you're unsatisfied with your room, sir, but there's nothing we can do about the glass wall, we do have an empty room we can put you in with a 10% discount as our way of apologising"

Perhaps that's cynical of me, but i refuse to believe anybody thought of the idea of glass wall bathrooms, and everyone involved in the design process all agreed "yes! Transparent bathrooms! Everyone will love that!"

Interesting. I guess maybe it would force people to share less rooms on business trips, etc.

Possibly to get people to book separate rooms instead of just one room. More money that way
