Not much pisses me off more than enshittification disguised as instagramability.

Gonna take a moment to plug bringbackdoors.com because fuck these bullshit designs.

It’s not just hotels, I recently built my home (from a volume builder, sue me) and in practically every option from multiple builders the bathroom was just OPEN to the bedroom in some way. We had to request a door.

I personally don't mind an open plan bedroom/shower/bath, my wife and I are considering options along these lines.

But a toilet? That shit's going behind a door! (no pun intended)

A relationship's gotta have SOME mystery 🤣

My wife and I just bought an old house (1910's, old in US standards at least) and at some point the large bathroom was renovated into 2 small bathrooms, a hall and a master bath. The master bathroom has literal saloon doors, and the toilet is right next to the door. That bathroom is for peeing at night only.

Also if people are in the same room the bathroom connects to and I'm taking a shit, I close the door behind me when I leave so everyone doesn't have to know just how bad it got in there. This just removes that option.

I used to work for a company that rented apartments in a major US city and there was a remodeled one bedroom that had the bathroom positioned at the end of the large bedroom closet, fully open to the bedroom.

The rooms weren't big either so you were very likely to be able to see your loved one take a shit while laying in your bed.

Edited a word.

I just don't understand why this is becoming such a staple! It's happening in my country too, where you have apartments and their en-suite bathroom has no door. I get it, it discourages sharing, but also wtf how is it not illegal??? At some point this violates basic human dignity.

When I inquired with the landlord about adding a door he acted like the possible tenants who had asked about it were being annoying for wanting it.

A lot of landlords don't give a shit.

Not just seeing, but hearing and smelling.

Won’t sue you, but you might end up suing them eventually! I’m in home improvement and oh LAWDY the amount of problems we find in homes like this hidden just enough to not be obvious is…. Concerning.

I’m not sure what it’s like with you guys but it’s quite common here to hire a third party inspection firm who provides a report with legal follow up at every stage from slab to lock up, so we’re fairly confident we got a decent build.

My parents bought an apartment in Berlin about ten years ago in a new-build. It had nice big windows facing a park. And a bathtub in the living room, facing the windows. The bathtub is perfectly visible from the park.

Do people not understand children? Like if there's no door that you can lock between an accesible area and a bathroom kids gonna walk in at some point. You need doors.
