As someone who worked in a hotel once: Lol. Lmao, even.
I had to ask to do that when I was being trained. Such as, "Oh, I should wipe down the walls of the showers, too, no?" And, "Can I just use the broom to knock down the cobwebs."
Hell, half the time I scrubbed the toilets, you could tell the other cleaners weren't doing it because mold fell out.
Of course, not ALL hotels, but I bounced around a few (same ownership, different buildings)** and they were all kind of mangy and gross.
Edit: Clarity to the once and multiple claim in the same story.
That makes sense, my experience was a lot more corporate clients and we were (mostly) thorough because repeat business was the vast majority of our budget.
Yeah... We didn't use vacuums. They had them on the carts, but I was told to NOT use them (most of them didn't work). So we used lint rollers on a long pole.
Looking at the place you'd never guess how poorly cleaned it was at times. But cleaning the place... Well, let's just say I was usually yelled at for taking an extra 5ish monutes per room so it was actually scrubbed.
