1) flirting

If she was struggling how is she lifting multiple plates plus the bar? Thats not flirting, its interrupting. The goal of weight lifting is to lift, not have someone do it for you

Have you sever seen people struggle to match the hole with the bar. They have the strength but they look like they are putting string through small needle.

Then you ask if they need a hand. You don’t just take it from them and assume they want or need your help based on appearance.

The above comic is not about helping people - it’s about dudes assuming a woman needs help with a weight for no reason other than it’s a woman.

If you witness someone struggling regardless of gender or size, help.

I'm just responding to a "If she was struggling how is she lifting multiple plates plus the bar". Also some people just can't watch others struggle they have to do it them self 😂😂. In not saying it's not rude just giving possible reasoning.

Are you looking at the comic? Where is she struggling? Isn’t all of working out with weights struggling? If you can’t handle watching people work at something you should not be in a gym.

You still ask unless there is an active risk for injury. You don’t just make it so no one has to work hard because your feelings are uncomfortable watching people work.

What she draw is her perspective what happened in reality there might more data to observe and discuss why it happened. Well I meet loot of people who were annoyingly proactive good people but still sometimes annoying. Also I'm not saying what they did is ok but mabye why it happened.

That’s not an excuse and the motivation is still wrapped in assumptions about other people and not reality.

It is not okay to assume someone can’t do something and you’re trying very hard to find an excuse for this behavior when you don’t need to.

Unless someone is at risk, meaning the bar is on their throat or moving in that direction and they clearly are trying to make it go up, you don’t take over and assume you can do it better.

Doing that is both an assumption about the other person and also you, as if you think you are more powerful or capable than the other person. It’s belittling to assume you can do it when others can’t or that because they might struggle it means you have to do it.

How do they get better if you never let them struggle to improvement?

You still refuse to acknowledge that your scenario is also rude and not polite or kind without asking the person if they would like help.

I personally have a disability and struggle some days because a flare up happens. If someone stepped in and took something out of my hands there is actually more risk for injury than if I did my slow controlled motion myself.

You can’t know someone else’s limits or situation without asking.

I can bench 80kg. I can't carry 80kg of plates at the same time as I load them onto the bar. The two aren't comparable.

Plates are max 20kg generally, the bar is 20kg, ergo if you’re lifting a 20kg plate up then you’re benching 60kg. Pretty confident anyone who can bench 60kg can move a 20kg plate.

The muscles you use for bench pressing and picking stuff up to carry are mostly different

I don’t think anyone who’s working out is counting lifting plates onto their bar as part of the lift lol

1) we dont see the bar, who says she is using more than 1 plate?

2) ive helped girls in the gym that benched 60 but struggled to lift the plate, simply because they were short so for them they have to do this with arms alone instead of being able to brace the plate with their chest like a tall person would be able to.
