Ah yes, Godot, the play, the first thing I thought of when I heard the word. Nothing to do with the game engine. /j

IIRC they specifically named it after the play Godot. Because it's an engine to create words. And play them. And waiting for Godot is a play.

I believe the reasoning was because it felt like everybody was waiting for the next update/feature perpetually, like waiting for Godot himself
