Idk, he seemed like he did ok. Not great but fairly average.

He molded to society's expectations, but there was no real fulfillment for him doing so. Dude was meant to be in the ocean (i.e. a purpose more befitting him), but he likely was too busy following the script to see it as an option.

Comic at least prolly serves as a reminder to actually explore and be curious about life because the one you're living might not be the one for you, and you should find the one for you before you're gone.

That's my read on it anyway.

Did he even have gills?

Nobody is meant to be anywhere. Some people get the short end of the stick while everyone pretends you're starting on equal ground.

He did fine. He wasn't ecstatic. He wasn't depressed. That's perfectly acceptable existence. It's on him to change it, nobody else.

Nobody can read minds. Nobody knows your inner workings better than yourself. Nobody is coming to save you.

The outliers? Congrats on being lucky lol. Even then, you still have to accept it.

We get about 17,000* days of waking existence. Time stops for noone.

I thought it was pretty clear from the comic that he was, in fact, depressed. But on the other hand I'm a depressed bastard and saw something of myself in his perpetually-bewildered-and-put-upon expression so idk. It's for the artist to say what they meant I suppose

Well then he was depressed in the womb before he ever stepped fin on land. Would it have mattered if he had legs or not?

Closest it'd come down to is if he had a disability where it showed him happy in the womb, or happy as a kid before he knows better since he would've been shuffling fine like any other baby or toddler. It wouldn't be until school, and walking where the depression around being different or disabled would be relevant.

This is just a person who is apparently confused by existence, being confused, going through the motions despite not figuring anything out, then dying.

I'd wager 1/4 of the world nearly does that lol.

Oh man, that typo at the end! Hopefully most of us live to see 5yo! If I live to 75, I’ll have existed almost 27,400 days. I’ve already gone through almost 12,800 of them….

I…. don’t like that.

Hah! Thanks. Also sans sleep, it's much less. Although sleep is nice for many and active, but for many it's black and wake up again.
