I, as a neurodivergent person with persistent depression, anxiety with a bit of disassociation. I unfortunately relate to this comic. I swear I feel I don't belong in this world, obtaining and truely feeling real happiness is kind of like trying to make clothes out of dust and air.

Same. Fish out of water.

Ironically, the thing that has brought me most meaning, joy and connection with everyone else was not a part of this merman’s life.

Did you ever get sick at school, so they called your parents to come get you?

My entire life has felt like sitting in the front office, trying not to puke, waiting for someone to take me home. Just a long purgatory of "get me out of here."

My mom assured me "you can always feel free to go to the nurse and call to come home if you're really sick"

Then when I did she punished me coldly for doing so as soon as we were out of sight from any school officials

Mine was the same way. If I ever had a need, it was a massive inconvenience.

After 32 long years I was finally home.

They put my baby girl in my arms for the first time and everything made sense.

That lasted for a year and a half, less than three months after her brother was born my ex fell off the deep end and kidnapped them claiming I was burning her teddy bears. She moved 500km away with them.

It's been three and a half years since then. I get to pay $2000/mo in order to facilitate 14 hours of parenting time a month with them. On top of the $1000/mo in child support. My income is negative, if it weren't for my parents' support I would be homeless and probably dead by now.

I went from being lost and confused, to finally being at home, I found where I was meant to be, and then was plunged directly into hell. I don't think it will ever end.

We spent $75k on a lawyer only to have them accuse me offantasizing about suicide and literally walking out of court without a word.

I don't think it will ever end.
