Survivorship bias. Basic buff & shirtless men are the limit of what a straight mens consumption is before getting into gay territory, which they obviously don't consume and therefore don't consider. The real equivalent would probably be bara art

Whoever wrote this comic has never watched jojo's bizarre adventure lemme tell you. Aint no one been sexualised like the jostar family

Honestly never watched Jojo's. But from what I've seen... are they not basically exactly the same thing as the OP image? Every clip I've ever seen from that show is just obnoxiously ripped dudes. That kind of design tends to be more of a self-insert fantasy for men rather than a sexual fantasy for women.

ultra ripped, and posing all over the show. If you want fantasies for women tho, booktok is right there

the image is obviously not about every media ever. if your takeaway was that the comic is saying "men are never sexualized" you're not understanding it

OP: "making a man shirtless and buff is not equivalent to the sexualization of women"

Half the comments: "okay but people find abs attractive so a man changing his shirt is basically the same thing as a whole movie's worth of bikini armour"

in the warframe community i've heard nearly the same argument as the guy in the comic about some of the designs in that game. they literally think these two designs are both equally sexualized

The example that came to mind for me is Liu Kang and Sonya Blade.

Your mom walks in on you playing Mortal Kombat as a 10 year old. Which character design is she taking issue with you looking at?

Despite being who OP is criticising, they still find a way to miss the point

Now one could ask themselves why extreme sexualisation of women is "normal" in media, while extreme sexualisation of men is relegated to "gay territory".
