What are the core concepts of a cold/warm approach?
I approach often not for numbers but just to improve my social skills and talk to new people often, I want to try to break the initial ideas of approaching a stranger and starting a conversation.
For me, it seems to be human to human as subject and a thing in the area as the predicate, as you are able to figure out a predicate the other person can connect with, the faster you can get past the awkward wall and into their friendly side. At least this is what I think, is there a better method?

What is a normal amount of communication before and after dating?
I met this girl a few weeks back at a grocery store, I got her number and we would text back and forth almost every day. Then we started dating, meeting more in person, meeting up 3-5 times a week etc. we are about to become bf/gf but I am noticing that our communication is slowly starting to become less. Sometimes a day or 2 of no texts, then I text her to meet up and we hang out for hours and chat nonstop but the second she goes home we barely text now.
Is this normal? I have a feeling this will be the norm moving forward. What is normal? before and after dating?

19 and still can't keep a conversation going. How do I get better?
Hey everyone! Warning: this might be a bit boring.
I'm 19 and I still struggle with talking to people.
Usually I ask a question, they answer, and then I have nothing else to say. They don't continue either. The silent is so loud that it gives me anxiety.
I've watched so many videos on how to make friends and related things but. None of it works for me. I end up feeling like a fool.
I also avoid the wrong kind of crowd, so I end up alone most of the time. It gets lonely, and the anxiety makes it worse.
Has anyone been through this?

How Do You Have a Good Conversation with Someone New?
Hiišš¼
I've always wondered what makes a conversation genuinely good. Like, how do you make a chat interesting instead of letting it turn into boring small talk?
I'm especially curious about online conversations, where you barely know anything about the other person.
What kind of questions, scenarios, debates, or ideas keep a conversation flowing naturally? What topics make people open up, share their opinions, and actually enjoy talking to each other?
And what makes someone go from being just another person you're chatting with to someone you genuinely look forward to talking to?
I'd love to hear your experiences, tips, or even examples of conversations that really stuck with you.
I'm trying to improve my communication skills, so I'm genuinely interested in learning what makes a conversation meaningful, fun, and memorable.

Sweating profusely in social situations
I know it might sound gross but right from childhood I've been someone who sweats very easily but profusely and literally from everywhere.
That being said I do maintain proper hygiene and I'm very considerate towards people and spaces around me.
In social situations where I need to speak or contribute or when I'm in the spotlight I get very nervous and start to talk fast or mumble and to make things worse I start sweating profusely.
Unfortunately this is a viscous circle because when I start sweating like that people tend to notice quickly and that makes me more nervous and hence sweat more.
Nevertheless I still try to put myself in such situations to grow as a person.
I was just curious if there is someone similar who can relate with this.

Does anyone else think of better responses after a conversation?
Sometimes I leave a conversation and only think of what I think is a better response hours later.. especially when I feel like I didn't explain myself properly.
Does anyone else do this? How do you get better at expressing yourself in the moment?

Is the expression "maybe someday I will (do something that you ask) a polite way of saying no or never?" I'm not asking the standard grammar meaning but the real meaning when used in human interactions.

Am I the asshole for not understanding my friends communication style?
This is definitely not an AITA style post, it's more about communication skills and my own frustrations with understanding them. This might come off as a bit of a random bowl and I apologize in advance
To try to Cliff notes this as much as possible I have a friend who has avoidance issues, and a lot of that sometimes means that we struggle to communicate properly, especially when it comes to me trying to communicate my needs and she vanishes out of the conversation
I know that she will reply eventually, I know that she cares, and I know that she doesn't always mean to be a poor communicator but what is frustrating me is what I'm perceiving to be a lack of effort in communication. So what I mean eventually it's usually like 48 hours later even if it's something I need an immediate answer on, when I say she cares yes I think she cares about me but what's feeling frustrating is there doesn't seem to be any effort in her communication anymore, or at least a lessened effort that there used to be
To give you a really good example just yesterday I messaged her trying to have a conversation about this that she agreed to have, and I brought up how both mean other people are getting tired of the flakiness and communication issues (as well as how my therapist is telling me I deserve to be treated better), and she just kind of threw out "oh im sorry i dont mean to" and then eventually just completely disappears out of the conversation, and I messaged her later asking when she'd be free next and I just don't get a response
Am I the jerk here? Maybe I'm being a little hard on myself, or sometimes I feel like I might be expecting too much but I feel like my over frustration at this might be getting a little overblown

Communication is key?
Sometimes I feel like I don't fit in between my friends whenever I go to the hangout I just sit there laughing and listening..I never know what to say or how to react properly..Is that normal? I think lack of communication is a big problem for me even when I play football.. I am not so great but I play a lot better than most of my friends who are getting a lot more game time than me..I just don't want to say it out loud but it is really bothering me...

What do you guys talk about when meeting for the first time?
18M, I am kind off shy. I have been studious and athletic my entire life . I have trouble thinking about topics to talk about on first dates or meeting with entire strangers. I get easy and open when i get just enough comfortable around them but i am very hesitant at the beginning.
I have only ever dated 1 of my classmates and it ended horribly, so i made a rule not to ever date in same school. but knowing people from other schools i cannot think of topics to come up with or what say after first "hi".

How do I become more confident and stop being so scared of approaching people?
I'm a teenage girl, and I've been struggling with confidence for a while. I used to be much more introverted, but I've improved a lot over time. Still, I struggle with approaching people and showing my real personality when I don't know them well.
Recently, there's this guy at school who I think is really nice. I admire how confident he is and how naturally he talks to people. The funny thing is, I feel like we actually have a really similar sense of humor and vibe, and I think we'd get along really well. š The problem is that I need time to feel comfortable around someone before I can show that side of myself.
I was too nervous to approach him, so my friend ended up telling him that I liked his vibe and wanted to get to know him (I actually didn't want her to approach him at all, and I was pretty mad at her for doing it without my permission š). Eventually, I messaged him myself, telling him that I thought he was nice, admired his confidence, and wanted to become friends. He responded really sweetly and said he also thought I was nice and wanted to be friends!
I'm happy it went well, but it made me realize how much my insecurity still holds me back. Even when I know someone is nice, I get nervous about approaching them in person. I don't want to become the loudest person in the room; I just want to feel comfortable being myself without overthinking everything.
I'd also really like to become closer friends with him, but I don't know how to go about it. Should I just start talking to him more at school, message him occasionally, or try something else? I'm scared of making things awkward or coming across as weird when I just want to get to know him better. š
For those who used to be shy but became more confident, what helped you? How did you learn to approach people without being so nervous? And do you have any advice on how I can naturally become better friends with someone when I'm too shy to show my real personality at first?
I'd really appreciate any advice because I genuinely want to work on myself, but I don't know where to start.

How do I get better at giving comebacks when my friends tease me?
Title: How do I get better at giving funny comebacks when my friends tease me?
My friends are the type who constantly make jokes and roast each other. I genuinely enjoy their humour and don't take their jokes personally.
The problem is that I'm usually the guy who laughs at the joke but doesn't say anything back. I rarely come up with a funny response on the spot, or add something to keep the joke going.
Because of this, I feel like they sometimes think I'm awkward or uncomfortable, even when I'm having a good time.
I want to learn how to give funny comebacks, roast them back playfully, and add to the humour instead of being a passive audience.
For those of you who are naturally funny or have improved at this:
- How do you come up with comebacks so quickly?
- How do you learn to think of something funny in the moment instead of hours later?
- Are there any techniques or exercises to improve spontaneous humour?
- How do you tease your friends back without making things awkward?
I'd appreciate practical advice and examples of actual comebacks. I want to get better at this without forcing jokes or trying too hard.

what amount of talking is considered healthy?
my partner and i have been in a relationship for four years now. phone calls have always been difficult for me as i regard myself as a face to face person and every time i get on a call with her, after the initial niceties, the conversation drops flat and we find ourselves not having much to talk about. sheās the talker in the relationship and iām the listener and weāve grown comfortable with the dynamic over the years and now i suppose she mustāve flagged it as odd and when the conversation dies down iām expected to get it up and running again but the donāt have a lot to talk about really and that turns into a disagreement. so what do you even talk about after 4 years? what extent is considered healthy here?

Looking for an English Speaking Partner (B1 Level) š
Hey everyone!
Iām currently at around a B1 level in English, and Iām looking for someone who would like to improve their English along with me.
Iām mainly interested in daily communication and casual conversations, just like talking to a friend. We can talk about our day, hobbies, movies, interests, random topics, or anything that comes to mind.
We can either text or have voice calls, depending on what weāre comfortable with. The goal is to practice regularly, become more fluent and confident, and help each other improve without worrying too much about making mistakes.
A small note: This is a new Reddit account, but Iām not new to Reddit. Iām using a separate account because my previous account has some personal posts, and Iād prefer to keep those separate.
Iām looking for someone whoās genuinely interested in practicing consistently and building a friendly connection along the way.
If youāre interested, feel free to DM me. Letās learn and improve together! š

How to rizz a woman on Reddit!
So I've been on Reddit a long time, and every now and then I'll come across someone whose posts I genuinely like. Funny, thoughtful, writes well. Then I freeze, because I have no idea how to message her without sounding like a creep or a bot.
Here's what I've picked up so far, mostly from screwing it up:
"Hey beautiful" is a guaranteed ignore. She probably has a dozen of those already. Respond to something she actually wrote. It's not complicated, but almost nobody does it.
Have something to talk about besides her. If your whole message is flirting, there's nothing to reply to. Mention something you're into, or a dumb story that relates to her post.
Don't chase. One message is fine. Three follow-ups when she hasn't answered is where it gets awkward. If the conversation's good, both people put in effort. If you're carrying it alone, that's your answer.
Don't force the jokes, and keep it from turning sexual too fast. That's the quickest way to get blocked.
Don't treat it like a mission. You're just finding out if you enjoy talking to each other. Some chats go nowhere and that's fine.
If it's going well, just say you're interested. No games, no weird tests. Be straightforward and be okay with whatever she says.
If it's a no, let it go. Wish her well and move on.
Now the actual question. For anyone who's met someone through Reddit:
1)What was your opener?
2)Was it a shared subreddit, a comment thread, or a cold DM?
3)What turned it from "chatting" into something real?
4)And women here: what makes a first message actually worth answering?

Idk what should i doo about this
I am a college fresher and now i am having difficulty to connect to people like most of time unless they start the topic, i dont know what should i say.
Its not like i cant talk, once the person initiate a talk with me i can carry itl but i sucks at initiating talk i dont know what should i talk about with new friends, with old friend it comes naturally i initiate talk naturally and was the funniest and humourous person but now my head become empty and i stand awkwardly in the group unless someone start the talk with me and when i try to initiate the convo it dies after a few exchange and the main thing is i used to be a funny and humourous person but now when in grp people joke around all i do is laugh and they start talking in thier own which discourage me more to take part in convo.
And all my humour and funny part cant even emerge in front of new people, i dont know if it is hesitation or something else.

I got nervous talking to a trans girl
I was headed home last night in the bus, when a trans girl got on, and sat across from me. she complimented me on my bike I had, and we got to talking about bike stuff, and then talking about biking around LA in certain spots. the entire time I was nervous, very anxious, and got worried that I would accidentally slip up and say the wrong thing. and it also surprised me that someone as beautiful and stunning as they were, out of all the people who ride the bus, decided to talk to boring ol' me. I just wish I weren't shy and nervous when it comes to talking to trans people...for they are in fact people like everyone else...just a little more spunk and soul and fun
