Discussion Face Tracking SDK recommendations ?
I'm looking into face-tracking SDKs for a project I'm working on and before buying anything I want to hear about people's personal experiences.
Has anyone here worked with any of these (Banuba, Azure Face API, AWS Rekognition, Face++, MediaPipe) in a real project? Curious about:
Does the latency/performance stuff hold up in practice?
Any hidden pain points not mentioned in these kinds of writeups (pricing surprises, integration headaches, docs quality, etc.)?
Would you recommend something else entirely that wasn't even covered (MediaPipe, ARKit/ARCore, open-source options)?
Just want to know how these actually perform in real use.

MediaPipe is the best free alternative, but it's headache to polish. If you have the budget and want to launch fast, it's better to use a commercial SDK like Banuba or DeepAR

Not quite what you’re looking for but www.headcase3d.com. GNM 3D head tracker in beta.

This shows it in action and its limitations.

It really depends on what you need, what FPS, etc. Open source on prem ONNX models run pretty fast if you have a little bit of VRAM. https://github.com/SthPhoenix/InsightFace-REST is a good starting place for detection and recognition. You said "tracking", which means tracking same face across frames -- for this you'll need to implement tracklets.

ARkit is good on iphones with truedepth, but it's iOS only and device limited. ARcore augmented faces has a supported -device list, so some of mid-range android is out.
So, fine if you're targeting recent flagships, and there could be some problems if you're not
