I sometimes wear the same exact outfit everyday for an entire week straight.

I know people are going to call me funky for this but hear me out. If I have a bunch of things or errands planned during the week that has no correlation to each other meaning there’s no cross over of people, I’ll just wear the same exact outfit for each thing. Like for example this week I had classes on Tuesday, my aunts birthday on Wednesday, I went shopping and got a nose piercing on Thursday, and I had a dentist appointment Today. All these things had no correlation and since no one I know would recognize what I’m wearing, I just wore the same outfit for each of these things and I’m probably going to wear it tomorrow again cause idgaf.

None of these things required exercise or anything that would make me sweaty so I just don’t see an issue with it and I have never had excessive body odor so the clothes still just smell like my perfume.
I don’t think this makes me unhygienic, if anything I’m helping the environment by saving water on washing clothes so I will continue to do this.

As long as you don’t smell like digested salami and you don’t look like you had a fight with a chalkboard it’s fine

u/Aggressive-Pea6839 20h ago

I wear a work uniform for a week straight, shower nightly, ect. Not public facing, and nobody cares. Depends on trade. I smell like a grinder of metal.

u/CreativeGeekNerd 11h ago

“Smell like a Grinder or Metal” sounds like a great song title.

I think it's also widely considered acceptable (not that that matters) to re-wear pants for many days. I've heard a lot of people say things like they could wear them 3 to 7 times. I don't think it's about a number though. More of how clean they/you feel. And also if you're not going to be out very long, seems pretty wasteful to grab a whole separate outfit if you already have something that's sufficiently clean ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Thats crazy to me bc like one day of wearing pants they dirty idk y

u/laurenintheskyy 9h ago

Even for jeans?? I hate the feeling of freshly washed jeans, I'll go as long as I can between washes. They fit and feel so much better after a few wears

I used to buy or ask for the same pair of pants/shirts when I was younger. Just wanted to be like some of my favorite people in cartoons. Open the closet and it’s all the same things

11

u/Brave-Menu-3105 1d ago

I know several people who wear the same thing every day, like 365 days a year. White shirt and khaki pants for one, white shirt and black pants for two others. I don't know if they wear the same ones every day, or have a wardrobe full of the same pants and shirt.

6

u/exdeez 1d ago

I do the same, but I have about 10 black t shirts, and 3 types of pants. It's basically my uniform. But I would never rewear the exact same shirt more than once 🤢

2

u/mmt0ptmm 18h ago

The Doug Funnie special. He had a whole closet of the same outfit

0

u/Glittering-Panda3453 1d ago

I have like 20 cheao white tshirts and like 5 pairs of black pants. I just buy checkered shirts and throw a different one of those on every morning so I look different, but normally take it off when im at work. It

u/Potential_Isopod_170 20h ago

Did you at least change your underwear?

3

u/Afraid-Carry4093 18h ago

Thats the first thing I thought. And make sure they put deodorant on.

6

u/Potential_Isopod_170 18h ago

And a shower, I would hope.

Two of my kids have a standard outfit.

As in numerous copies. So they can always wear the same thing.

While in high school, it took some kids a surprisingly long time to realize that one always wore the same thing. Like months of the same solid colored shirt and black pants.

I think it is easier for boys than girls to do it. But there are people who do it.

u/Birklas 1d ago

When  I was a kid, I had some classmates wearing same sweaters for a few years every day. Similar in higher grades. I see no problem with that. Though I don't think some had copies, just one heavy duty sweater.

Wear your uniform and be proud 🤷

To each their own I guess! lol I get where you're coming from with wanting to help the environment by washing your clothes less, but dead skin cells, oils, and bacteria can build up on your clothes even if you don't feel sweaty or think you're getting dirty. Your clothes also come into contact with all kinds of surfaces throughout the day and can pick up dirt and other stuff from what you touch, lean against, and come into contact with.

I just wanted to point out that clothes aren't necessarily clean just because they don't smell bad or smell like perfume! That buildup still happens, and wearing the same clothes for that many days without washing them can be a little unhygienic, even if you don't notice it. I mean that in the nicest way possible!

u/Nightingale329 1d ago

The perfume part is doing a lot of heavy lifting; those dentist chairs defintely count as outside grime.

3

u/ASingleBraid 1d ago

Incredibly true

7

u/EBweB76 1d ago

Ditto for me, OP.
I work from home and on the few occasions I go out, I’ll finally get dressed… and the clothes from the previous day are most convenient, so why not?

5

u/hello_ciao_ 1d ago

Agreed! I do this particularly because I’m only wearing the clothes for a few hours, or less, at a time.

3

u/Far-Supermarket-9642 1d ago

You know you get used to your own smell right? Literally nose blindness, people can definitely smell you btw

0

u/Anonymous5282864838 23h ago

I shower everyday and I’ve actually been complimented on how I smell really often. If your clothes stink after you wear them then that’s an issue in itself

4

u/Jeanarocks 1d ago

I own a salon. On Wednesdays I go to a neighboring town and do hair at an elderly home. I always wear the same thing Tuesday Wednesday or Wednesday Thursdays

4

u/Ravenclawparabatai 1d ago

I totally get the logic behind doing this but I think two days should be the limit. If you shower before wearing these clothes again, don’t you feel like you’re putting something unclean on your clean body?

2

u/curlygirl1978 1d ago

That's a great way to confuse the paparazzi! 🤩

2

u/jeansthatactuallyfit 1d ago

Do you at least wear natural fibers? I think this is ok depending on the fabric. But also don’t you get yourself dirty? There’s no way your outfit is still looking fresh a week later after going out all that much and your clothes will hang on to the odors from outside

4

u/Anonymous5282864838 1d ago

To be fair all these errands I had take less than 3 hours so I only wear the clothes for that long each day so if you think about it, wearing it for 5 days of the week is equivalent to wearing the outfit for a whole day so I’ve never had an issue with the outfit looking bad

2

u/jeansthatactuallyfit 1d ago

Well I hope it’s not all like polyester and atleast wools and such because they’re antimicrobial and breathable

2

u/DontBanMePlsmeowmeow 1d ago

well thats fine cuz youre not wearing it for the full week just for a few hours

1

u/jeansthatactuallyfit 1d ago

Thatd be good if you took a steamer to your clothes for a little refresh too

2

u/periwinklecloudz 1d ago

My bacne could never lol.

2

u/jamrockin 1d ago

As long as you change your socks and underwear, I guess it’s fine.

2

u/BigMacWizard 1d ago

I understand some people have less body odor than others, but if I tried this you would be able to smell me from a mile away.

5

u/GrapeSeed007 1d ago

I admit I do the same. If not being physically active. I live on short pants. They go at least five days. Shirts every other day. Of course I shower every morning so the boxers and socks get kicked to the laundry shoot.

9

u/Anonymous5282864838 1d ago

Yeah underwear and socks should always be changed and as long as you’re showering everyday I don’t see anything wrong with it

1

u/aquamarine_sea 1d ago

Long as you don’t get ringworm it’s fine lol you never know what you come into contact throughout the day…however I do the same thing if I haven’t left the house…if I leave the house and sit in public, shared spaces I can’t in good conscience, wear the same things. But I’m also just a tiny bit of a germaphobe. Like I don’t let my bf get in our bed (our 2 year old daughter shares the bed sometimes also) unless he has showered and has different clothes on than he wore in the outside world.

It’s fine if you re use the same shirt and pants, but socks and drawers should def be changed daily.

1

u/DianaGabaldon 1d ago

I stg sometimes these confessions are like “I do this CRAZY thing but it’s actually not that crazy anyway because of x but still”

If something works for you and it’s not illegal or dangerous then have at it imo lmao

1

u/Fjsurfer 1d ago

I change my undies and house clothes every day, but wear the same outfit whenever I have to go out all week. Saves me so much brain space.

1

u/rolledbeeftaco 1d ago

I used to do this when I worked third shift. I would run my errands after work, which usually didn’t add up to 4hrs a week, and I hated wasting clean clothes.

1

u/Ok_Asparagus_1073 1d ago

Me too, its my work uniform

1

u/Spikeyy715official 1d ago

I very rarely make long posts, but I heavily relate to this. Im autistic and always wear the same 3-4 hoodies for months straight. I was forced to hide certain parts of myself for years just to "fit in" and it had severe impacts on my mental health because I was suppressing myself constantly just to satisfy others. Once I started unmasking and just being more myself, I've felt significantly more happier all the time and have only recently realised just how badly suppressing myself (masking) had been affecting me. I am also aware that there will be people who are judgemental and may occasionally make a rude comment, but I've also come to realise that anyone who mocks, judges, criticises you etc for simply being yourself is not a friend. As long as the hoodies/outfit are getting washed routinely and you aint hurting anyone else, just be yourself 🫡 Btw, if you wear the same style of hoodie frequently (or whatever else), I would reccomend buying a duplicate or similar-style one so that if you're washing one, youll still have the other available 👍

1

u/Mean-Ad79 1d ago

Are you washing the clothes after each wear?

1

u/Lucky-Berry-4252 1d ago

Honestly, I don’t often wash my nice going out clothes like silk blouses and such because I’m impeccably clean when I wear them and they only smell like my perfume afterward, and I always wear an undershirt which gets washed after one wearing. Of course if I get a stain, I’ll try to spot clean it, and possibly may have to wash it too.

Plus, if it’s a white cotton blouse, then I’ll wash it after every wearing. I usually avoid cotton blouses because of the excessive wrinkling after washing that requires ironing.

1

u/MarsupialsRule 1d ago

I wear shorts or jeans and a t shirt every day. Rotating through 3 pairs of shorts and a new shirt everyday. Same thing just a clean version. Single and not wanting to date, so nobody to impress. So I get it.

1

u/oopygoopyenterprises 1d ago

It cuts down on the decision fatigue for sure!

1

u/Callahan_Kid 1d ago

I just texted my sister about this yesterday!  "Pro tip: reduce decision fatigue by having one outfit you wear to every outing 🤣" If I'm just spending a couple hours in an outfit (meeting someone for coffee, going to an appointment, etc.) I will repeatedly wear one Cute Outfit™️ until I inevitably spill something on it or get sweaty.

1

u/theetunamac 1d ago

I barely sweat if it's under 85, not smelly. I repeat the same outfit frequently

1

u/Stillbornsongs 1d ago

I have like 13 pairs of the same black pants and probably 20 black tank tops. Its mainly for work but they get regular use outside of work too lol. Bonus i can take off my work shirt and still be semi decently dressed if Im doing something right after.

1

u/shegrowsonyou 1d ago

I have 8 of the same pants and 15 or the same shirt. It is what I wear.

1

u/HakuPaku3 1d ago

I do it for 2 weeks at most. It's just less washing and you save.

1

u/onlydothis 1d ago

That's normal, especially when it's colder and you don't sweat.

1

u/Jknzboy 1d ago

Try nudism. You get to wear the same outfit every day!! 🤣 and laundry day becomes a day off!

1

u/MonyMony126 1d ago

I do the same thing. I work a hybrid schedule, so I'm in pajama pants & hoodie. If I go out in public, I'll change, and i will wear that same outfit several times if I need to leave the house.

1

u/knockoffreesescup 1d ago

This was actually something my therapist suggested to me when I told her about my executive dysfunction. I told her picking out an outfit each day felt like a lot of willpower, and she said “why don’t you just wear the same thing?”

1

u/wreck_it_ralph_ 1d ago

Whilst I change the clothes daily
My outfit for work is identical daily - and sometimes on the weekends I wear the same as work days.
Even down to the socks - 20 pairs the same
Never have to worry about what to wear or what sock matches what.

1

u/Charliefox89 22h ago

I do this as well. I change my work clothes and athletic clothes everyday but I often wear the same outfit for errands or socializing all week.  My rational is if I wear something to the grocery store for 1 hr it's no different than if I wore any other outfit for 1 hr. Like I don't change my clothes hourly.

The caveat to this is I live alone and take off outside clothes like immediately. So what I'm wearing out is literally being worn for short periods of time.

I also always wear something fresh for dentist appointments or anytime a stranger person has to be up close to me . That just seems like a common courtesy to be as fresh as possible in those situations.

u/openandshutface 21h ago

Old mate wrote the same suit for a year and nobody noticed. Just don’t spoil any good on it and you’ll be right.

Hell yeah 👍

But wait what about the grossness that get on the outside of your clothes from just living life? Hopefully OP has some sweats they change into once they enter the home cuz my wife would kill me if I showed up tot he function in the outfit I rode the bus in last night

1

u/monstermayhem436 20h ago

I did that when I worked at a grocery store. We had to wear black pants and the work shirt. So just wore the same pants and shirt all week. Would change underwear but that's it

1

u/Pumpkincat3 18h ago

Bro, maybe something is wrong with me, but I don’t even think this is that bad. Like when I saw this as a confession post, I was like this is like normal lol Like I do this. But I also have some rules like I don’t wear outside clothes in my bed and like I take the clothes off once I get home. I didn’t think that was that bad sometimes I even wear the same socks for like three days. (again I take them off once I get home) I’ll actually even purposely try to do this sometimes but then like I’ll sweat in the outfit so I’m like oh I can’t anymore Edit: I always change my underwear tho like twice a day

1

u/the_orig_princess 17h ago

Do your clothes smell like your perfume, or reek of your perfume?

If you’re using it to cover your smells, you’re probably using a lot more than you think.

That’s super unpleasant for everyone you encounter.

1

u/Pretend-Insect-6047 12h ago

I thought it's waa normal to repeat clothes 🤔

1

u/_autumnwhimsy 10h ago

I do this occasionally. Especially if I'm running an errand and I'm only in the outfit for 15-20 mins.

Undergarments change daily tho but rerocking jeans and a tshirt? Its fine. For the integrity of denim and cotton, you shouldn't wash it after every wear ANY way. It breaks down the fibers faster.

1

u/Zesty_Harbor4729 10h ago

the dentist was never going to clock a repeat fit anyway

1

u/7lexliv7 9h ago

I do this for 2-3 wears.

People who have the chair where they drape their “worn but not ready for the wash” clothes are also doing this but over an hour extended time frame when the body oils can start to go bad. I figure get some good wear in a tight timeframe and then wash immediately.

1

u/Truck_Kooky 8h ago

What works for you, works for you. Either way water is still being wasted elsewhere 😭.

1

u/Whitney1028 7h ago

I see nothing wrong with this as long as you are smelling fresh and not too wrinkled. Please change your underwear, though.

1

u/Chron0c6ptor 5h ago

The dentist appointment is the only one that would make me paranoid, they’re basically face-first in your shirt perfume.

1

u/Equivalent-Proof-408 5h ago

I swap my outfits around, i wear the same Monday - weds - friday. Then change outfits on tues - Thursday. IDGAF.

1

u/TelephoneExpert7559 5h ago

meh, so do i. I use my washer and dryer to help.

1

u/j3st1cl3s 4h ago

If this is something to confess then I suppose I better queue up eh?

•

u/SekritSawce 1h ago

My mother did this. Every week, the same outfit same pants same top same sweater. Fresh underwear every day, though. After she died, looking back, I realized she must’ve been suffering from depression and doing the best she could. I lived hundreds of miles away and she always put on a good show when I was home visiting. I wish I’d been more observant.

•

u/Wise-Owl-4581 1m ago

Haha! I think the same way in the environmental aspect. I also do a very similar thing, but I usually limit it to 2 days if Im wearing it ALL DAY. Im extra weird bc i often have 2-3 outfit changes a day based on what Im doing. It also depends if I sweat in the outfit, but its not super weird and I do hear more people doing so

1

u/PortiaPotty2 1d ago

I have no problem with that 👍

1

u/_effy_ 12h ago

i don't know why that requires a confession, that's completely normal in my eyes? i shower daily and change my underwear but outer layers i wear for days, just like you. why should i toss a skirt that i wore for two hours for a doctor's appointment in the laundry? when i'm at home, i wear sweatpants/loungewear, i don't keep the skirt on for the rest of the day, so unless i spilled something on myself or it smells, i will wear it for multiple outside occasions.

0

u/jsdgame 1d ago

Eh I have Alot of clothes but only use like 3 sets for week
Ofcourse i wash them so who cares what people think or say

-3

u/Agile-Butterfly5245 1d ago

You're the reason I change my clothes.
