Why does Canada plan to import 380000 people a year?

I would prefer to get answers from Canadian citizens, expats or anyone nearby in North America.

Adding to the original question does canada have too many jobs for its current population? do the current canadians not want to work? i'm struggling to understand why a govt would do such a thing as from my understanding bringing in adults to work or for whatever reason puts them directly in competition with the locals for jobs, access to goods and services, housing and doesn't all of this put strain on your education and health sectors?

Our expectations for work life balance are too high mass migration means employers don't have to pay good wages because people who are used to a fraction of that will happily take it. Our government also owns a lot of properties that they rent out and profit off of. High demand for housing and low supply keeps rents high. The liberal government is fascist by practice and we are governed by traitors

61

u/nightabyss2 2h ago

This is the real answer. Born and raised Canadian.

The country gone to absolute shit.

19

u/3venthorizon 1h ago

Same… I grew up in the 90s and what I would give to go back to how it was then.

19

u/Prestigious-Gold6759 2h ago

You have absolutely nailed it. Same in the UK.

20

u/MamaRunsThis 1h ago

The amount of fraud that our government is willfully overlooking is astonishing too

•

u/charje 56m ago

Overlooking? Or perpetrating

•

u/charje 56m ago

Not exactly our government owning properties, it’s our prime ministers “former” company that has been buying up and building rental properties across the country

-32

u/exotics 2h ago

The same liberal government that is deporting people in record numbers?

Also fascism is a far right wing ideology. So your words are wrong

15

u/Only_I_Love_You 2h ago

That’s your response? I feel like you’re purposefully avoiding the meat of the comment

-14

u/exotics 1h ago

Nobody is immigrating here did a low paid job. Immigration is a process and part of the process is paying money to the government and part is proving you have a job that can financially support you and your family- or proving you have money when you come to use to support yourself etc.
Additionally immigration is an application process which can be denied. Most doctors here are immigrants

If you want to blame anyone for low wages blame the employer or blame the UCP for not raising minimum wage.

I want to note that temporary foreign workers and immigrants are not the same thing.

And adding that Carney has been deporting people in record numbers and has tightened immigration

7

u/Only_I_Love_You 1h ago

More workers=lower wages.

-6

u/exotics 1h ago

If more workers = lower wages then why does Ontario have higher wages than Alberta?

•

u/Only_I_Love_You 55m ago

Higher demand? Lower supply? Different cities?

6

u/undergroundcannibal 1h ago

Number 1, yes. They are doing that for optics. The last 10 years has been absolutely top tier political gameplay. They are the ones who brought all of the immigrants in, and are now deporting a fraction of a fraction of them and then plan on bringing more in when the heat died down. They only adopted slightly more conservative platforms recently when they realized that the political shift was too far to cheat.

2 nationalist socialism started as very left leaning for optics, and then became fascist once control had been established. The liberals can't stand opposition and they have been incredibly good at manipulating the public through state sponsored media, and school programs. They are very predjudiced, just not to the people that we are traditionally used to.

3

u/MamaRunsThis 1h ago

Who are they deporting? I’m not surprised the bots have shown up for this one

-2

u/exotics 1h ago

Since November of last year roughly 400 people a month have been deported. A record number for Canada and they tightened immigration and refugee claims (the UN even got pissed at that).

Mostly it’s been refugee claimants but also people who stayed longer than their Visa allowed etc. you can look it up

•

u/silverbackapegorilla 59m ago

OH WOW! 400 whole people? Meanwhile we bring in more in a day. Far more.

WEF infiltrated our cabinet. Our current and last prime minister are both WEF puppets. They are doing their parts to crash the economy create civil unrest all in preparation for The Great Reset/ Agenda 2030. It's the same reason the UK and France have been doing this. And the US under Biden.

This is the answer but these half wits can’t do basic math.

Great Reset Agenda 2030? Wow, sounds interesting, but first tell us what happened to the NWO, Agenda21, chemtrails, and all the other nonsense we've heard this century. Remember Jade Helm 15? Yeah that was a riot haha! How about "sovereign citizens". Really well balanced amirite?

5

All those things are happening? What’s the issue?

9

u/HotIntroduction8049 2h ago

Am Canadian. Our govt and associated economies are a ponzi scheme. Unemployment is abnormally high right now. Lots of people cannot find jobs but we continue to import people who will work in sh!tty workplaces without issue.

Any small service employer is hiring imports. Coffee shops, restaurants, etc. Our govt needs to stop low cost, low skill imports, period. Am not anti immigrant as my grandparents immigrated. Prob today is we do not have the infrasture to support more people. We have plenty of social programs but not enough GDP to support it forever and $18/hr employees are not going to cut it.

28

u/Atamusmaximus 3h ago

21

u/Active_Brilliant_13 3h ago

Same in Switzerland.

Twenty years ago, we agreed with the EU on 8,000–10,000 a year; now it’s 80,000–100,000 a year.

Everything is starting to fall apart, slowly but surely, and before that happens, everyone wants to line their pockets. Great wages for outsiders, while the local middle class faces the poverty line, the balance has been lost.

Say goodbye to this little paradise; soon there won’t be anything left of it as it once was.

Remigration is in full swing.

9

u/LimeDry7124 2h ago

By the by I heard they changed the gun laws in Switzerland. Only some of the military get ammunition to be kept at home, instead of All military personnel. Is that true?

3

u/Active_Brilliant_13 1h ago

Yeah, you're right. To be fair, I have to say that I've never been in the military (it's voluntary for women).

•

u/LimeDry7124 36m ago

Here in the States everyone is still under the impression that all Swiss military members have ammo in a box at home. But I remember back in 2000 reading how that changed. Because it was taking too much time to inventory all that ammo.

1

u/ResidentPreference65 2h ago

I know they used to send animation to their citizens aboard to keep up with their skill levels. I'm not sure if that still the case. But they even have their own private gun range outside of my city.

•

u/SwissBloke 11m ago

Military-issued ammo has nothing to do with Swiss gun laws, it's military regulations

But yes, since 2007, only some select soldiers are issued the 50rd ammo can

25

u/silverbackapegorilla 2h ago

Our government hates us. They just removed barriers that prevent companies from hiring foreigners over Canadians as well. It's that simple.

37

u/Cassandraburry2008 3h ago

Because the people of Canada are being betrayed by their own government. They are being flooded with people who work for less and are used to living in squalid conditions. The same thing is happening here and it’s a fact. Corporations are hiring 1.5 H1B’s for every American who got laid off. It’s being done to us too. Nobody wants it. The West better get serious about this before all of our countries get overrun.

3

u/MamaRunsThis 1h ago

At least your government has tried to address the H1B thing

23

u/jimmythemortician 2h ago

The Government of Canada hates Canadians and wants to destroy Nations and bring forth Global governance.

In short, Canada is run by a Satanic Cabal.

20

u/Flaky-Biscotti7591 2h ago

Because common sense has left the room. High demand, creates high prices. Housing problems? Let's bring in more people. Then the weakest ones will end up on the fentanyl highway to hell and end up as sacrificial offering to Moloch. Thanks for coming to my schizo rant.

3

u/Cultus_Divi_Titi 2h ago

It's an aging crisis and elite overproduction. Canada got greedy and didn't support the working family and affordability. Now we have population decline and the corporations running Canada want to keep the party going. Immigration is the fuel for capital engine.

•

u/burnedmarshmellow 47m ago

Outside conspiracy theories, as a mexican that once dreamed to immigrate to Canada and had the chance to finally visit last year, I have my opinion about Canada now.

What I saw was a very dilapidated economy and a very deep drug problem, not a real competent first-world country. As any other developed country they seem to be facing low fertility rates, which means the Canadian economy will slow down even more if it's not fixed.

If you stop immigration entirely, as some fantasize:

Less demand for houses won't fix the housing problem
Less demand for goods won't fix the high cost of living crisis
Less demand for public health won't fix the long waiting times and quality of services provided

The demand by canadians is still high but might not be sufficient to support GROWTH, which is what the govt is looking for, else they would declare a recession.

Even if people hate it, immigration stimulates the economy in different ways. New population creates demand little by little. The simple need of an immigrant to feed themselves and their family, house and dress their family, stimulates growth over time. Immigrants are still required to pay taxes, so the services supported by taxes still end in the favor of citizens. Towns and neighborhoods that were nearly abandoned start to flourish and have economic movement again. In some cases, immigrants create businesses and contribute even more to the economy.

Immigration is slowing down, not to the amounts some wish for, but it is a combination of improvement of conditions in latinamerican countries, and also followed by a decline in populations in those as well, so it will be likely that they will bring more immigrants from other areas of the world.

u/clashfan77 2h ago

I live in Canada, so here's the short version. 380k is the number of people getting permanent residency, not 380k people showing up at the airport, or being"imported". About half of them are already living & working here on temp permits and are just switching status to permanent. It's also a cut, not an increase. The old plan was 500k a year. They dropped it to 395k for 2025 and 380k now, and they slashed student and temp worker permits too. Our population actually went down for a few quarters this past year. Why they are doing it? Demographics. we're getting old. Deaths now outpace births here, so without immigration the population shrinks and there's nobody to fill jobs or pay into pensions and healthcare. I work in a care home and a lot of the nurses and aides are immigrants. Take them out and the "strain on health care" gets a lot worse, not better. That said, the housing crunch is real and growth was way too fast from 2022 to 2024. That's basically why they cut the numbers. People can argue about whether the new levels are right, but "Canada is importing people because Canadians won't work" isn't really what's going on.

9

u/MamaRunsThis 1h ago

No our population did not go down.
Statistics Canada recalculated after the census and it actually had went up by like 170K. And this doesn’t include all the people that outstayed their visas that they can’t locate

13

u/silverbackapegorilla 2h ago

All these people import their families including the old people. All this does is put further strain on systems they paid nothing into. The age demographics isn't changing with the imports.

1

u/National-Zone-256 1h ago

They first have to become Canadian citizens with all the hurdles of obtaining citizenship. Then they have to prove they can financially support the parents for 3o years so they don't rely on social assistance. Only the highest earning immigrants can actually qualify.

-5

u/XoCCeT 2h ago

Shhhh, facts scare dumb people

-2

u/squashed_fly_biscuit 1h ago

Also it helps fund the economic growth by attracting wealthy people, possibly to the point of being slightly over reliant on it.

1

u/silverbackapegorilla 1h ago

Is the growth in the room with us right now?

5

u/pisspantsmcgee666 1h ago

Canadian here. In my early 30's. Things have really changed. And it isn't good. The government doesn't give a fuck about us and it's become glaringly obvious.

The sad part , people take it. "Elbows up". Fuck.

The average person complains about higher taxes and groceries / fuel and energy costs. But doesn't bother to understand what's actually going on.

Monopolies have also really started to control this country. It's basically a steady decline into idiocracy esque add space with that. But I guess that's the western world. It just seems more obvious to Canadians with Rogers / Telus / RBC / CIBC shit owning fucking everything.

2

u/tenix 1h ago

It's for votes. Liberal government allows it and in return they get votes.

2

u/pisspantsmcgee666 1h ago

Well yeah. I'm aware of that. They are actively importing votes. We also have a massive issue with real estate that started in the late 80's/90's. A fuck ton of older Canadians networth are tied into real estate. Which causes a huge issue for people my age trying to get into the market. I'm not buying a house built in 1970 that's 700sqft for a million dollars next to a fucking crackden. No thanks.

1

u/tenix 1h ago

My wife owned a house in Canada. We sold it got 1.5m cad, moved to USA. Yeah Canada is completely fucked.

•

no i don't . i don't hate the jews and do not like hitler. but in modern times with so many people giving up their freedoms for convience i do understand how in the past the average Joe or Mary just voted for hitler into power thinking things will be alright when he just makes it worse

4

u/greenwolf_12 2h ago

I hope its just as simple as propping up the economy to avoid a recession but I believe there is a more nefarious reason. We do answer to Europe and the EU wants 3rd worlders in 1st world countries. Why is the question and I haven't the slightest. All i know is everything in Canada is overburden, Crime is out of control, you can't even get a doctor or if you require anything important god save you, you feel like your in India everywhere you go. Its terrifying and I want out. We can only hope for an annexation by U.S. I would have been against this 10 years ago but the liberal government have destroyed this place. I believe there is no hope here. No going back to the good times.

2

u/spacepepperoni 2h ago

It’s economics. Demographics spell disaster for the economy down the road, but increasing young population and people having babies helps to mitigate the effects. It’s still going to be grim as the plurality ages and starts pulling their pension.

2

u/GirlyFootyCoach 1h ago

Especially when young educated Canadians are leaving a sinking ship en masse

1

u/spacepepperoni 2h ago

It also props up the housing market which is a scary huge part of our economy.

1

u/snegurochka1 2h ago

1

u/imkvn 1h ago

Capitalism needs exploitation of labor. Either from within or imported. Trade partners with other countries to let their ppl in.... It's how a country is ran. Countries are not ran fair or democratic.

•

u/ComingDeveloper 49m ago

this is the sad part. as much as i love competitive markets through captilism if left unchecked it creates issues like this where corporations continue to hunt for cheaper labour either outsourcing or bringing them here to ensure prices remain down which i'm not even sure is the case as so many companies still record record profits year after year

we hear about population decline but why do so many of the fortune 500 companies still remaining WAY above float with no sign of slowing down

•

u/imkvn 37m ago

H1B visas in silicon valley really changed the landscape here. It's legal to outsource to different countries IT went to India. Nurses and doctors are brought in from the Philippines, India, and Persia. At least where I'm located.

It's just how Empires are ran.

Lot of your companies are sponsored by the government. In the US it's FB, Google, Tesla, Amazon

China is DD, Alibaba, xiaomi, HSBC

Korea it's Samsung

Japan Sony, Honda, Toyota

•

u/ComingDeveloper 34m ago

sad, the people(govt) you vote and are supposed to trust to reflect your interests are instead in bed with these businesses to not even put your second after the businesses but instead third after the foreign workers they brough here to work for cheap

1

u/Gorehound1991 1h ago

It's easier to sabotage worker rights and worth than to uplift the eroding middle class. If you bring in people who's immigration status is beholden to your whims you've recreated slavery but legal.

1

u/empathetical 1h ago

People forget the government should be working for us but it constantly pushes its power against us more and more and ppl just let it happen and it will continue to happen and get worse because there are no repercussions. Can't have a one world government if people are too patriotic and tied to their other countrymen. A cultural melting pot. No cultural ties to bind us

Watching this collapse as a Canadian is quite something. It’s articulated collapse.

The country is currently in the gutter regarding the economy/general cost of living, housing market and wages.

We actively watch our government slash and burn instead. We will watch them further bury us decision by decision and will do nothing to stop it.

They have brainwashed the general public and reign by fear. They have used public pressure and the brainwashed population to self police their policies and mindlessly defend their obvious, self destructive decisions.

At this point, I almost don’t feel bad watching it happen. We have accepted it and allowed it.

They legally murder our elderly and mentally ill.

This is what we allow.

•

u/cerberus_1 41m ago

Our PM, Carney is a globalist and part of the WEF. At best he's looking out for investors with the Bank of England who are seeing declining profits and understand that massive importation of low skill labour will drive certain markets. At worst he's using Canada as a tool to help destabilize western culture. He knows that boomers only watch CNN and CBC so he's going to continue to get elected for another 10 years. Also PP needs to step down, if he couldnt win during the easiest open net goal, he's never winning.

0

u/OppositeSecretary862 2h ago edited 2h ago

The TFW program has been heavily abused by companies to pay less, and control someones immigration status.

Trudeau never did anything about it. Carney has.
And then, as an Albertan, the immigration issue in Alberta is ridiculous because our premier wanted 10 million immigrants, Alberta is Calling, all this shit just to fuck them over with our referendum 2 years later.

Canada is a nation of immigrants. I'm 3rd generation Dutch but no one questions that because I'm white.

It's lack of funding. Full stop. And how provincial and federal government works.

Had a boss once say "I basically own these people" and have never been more disgusted in my life.

Seppie bot downvotes inbound.

1

What do you mean by “import”?

Importing is when you go out and get something to bring it back. Like I suppose you could mean the women some lonely men bring here from other countries to make them their wife?

Or WTF are you talking about?

Immigrants? We don’t import them. They come here by choice and they pay to do so. They have to take health tests first and have to prove they have income or money to sustain themselves.

For example most of our doctors are immigrants
