You start namdropping pornstars in casual conversation, watching her squirm as she recognizes them but can't respond without admission.

u/mikemyers999 1h ago
This wouldn't work if I were in that position cause I never care to learn the names of the people, if you put a gun to my head and told me to name 4 porn stars/actors/actresses/etc I'm gonna have my brains paint the ground

I'm the same but I could at least name 4. Mia khalifa, Alexis Texas, piper perri.... Fuck that one dude who's works many jobs, fuck what's his nameđ
Oh shit, it's not him, but ron Jeremy!

As a professional computer person, you pretend you didn't see that(at least to everyone who you don't directly work with)

I mean, if I was the daughter I'd be afraid for my safety and cut the mom off, normally you pretend you didn't see it but if it seems like a parent might be fetishizing their own child that's a different story.

It's really scary, it reminds me of that case where a girl found a bunch of teen stepdaughter x stepdad porn on her stepdad's computer. If that greentext is real, I hope whoever posted it is safe...

im really not a fan of the rampant "all bigots are closeted queers" shit that gets circulated around so much
I think it's much more likely that people fetishize and objectify us and don't view us as people, not that they're trans and in denial.
16
u/Jorvalt 1h ago
Not with trans people specifically, but definitely in the cases of vehemently anti-gay people it often tends to be projection. More than you might think.
Religion and other instilled prejudices can drive you further into the closet to the point where you swing in the other direction.

u/zombiejames28 9m ago
I also imagine there's an element of "if I don't get to do, no one should". Likely isn't conscious, but it wouldn't surprise me.

So.... if children take after their parents, or so they say, are you just an evolution of her own deep seated self? My mom it turns out is likely secretly a closeted lesbian, (long story) and 2 of her kids ended up being gay, one kf them is lesbian, the other is ace, and then there is me, the lone cishet dude

u/WorldRelevant6640 1h ago
"(long story)" I feel like we can assume the truncated version of this story
12

u/Lovestruckinthecity 1h ago
Now I'm very curious about this long story.
18
u/BlackwingF91 1h ago
Long story very very short, she always gets along way better with women, was constantly mocked by her brother (who still bullies her and us to this day) for being gay, and her sister also mocked her, even though all she said when younger was she found Sarah from The Labyrinth to be hot, and ever since, has shown no romantic attraction to anyone, not even my dad, although he genuinely tries. She also keeps trying to pray the gay away it seems, and seems to think that by being religious she can be normal, which even if she wasn't at the very least bisexual, wouldn't work cuz she has autism so it's a lost cause
13
u/Lovestruckinthecity 1h ago
That's so sad for her, for your dad and for her kids.
Religious people sometimes can be kind of weird. I have a friend who wants to go to therapy to improve her mental health, but her very christian mother refuses because "if she has a problem then she should just pray".

The prevalence of autism and the transphobia outside definitely contributes. Still, and hard to phrase this right, but it is mostly due to computers being (until relatively recently) culturally a 'boy thing', and specifically a nerdy/loser/non-athletic boy thing.Â
I genuinely dislike how au-fait I am with computers even as I recognise that these days it isn't remotely as gendered as it was when I grew up. I know it's nothing to be ashamed of, but it still hurts and I try very hard to keep myself away from them and focus on my other interests.

The programmer socks give you a +10 bonus to computer usage checks. Kinda hard to be bad at it when you add that kind of bonus to the roll.

Coincidental for me, I actually grew up liking technology and that was separate from my gender identity. I am autistic, it is a strong interest for me.

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset transfemby in denial 1h ago
it's a failure of cis people's imaginations not to realize that hrt can make a trans person feel better about themselves in their mind, not just physically
it took me a long time to realize this too, probably because of internalized transphobia
4
u/Fa1nted_for_real 1h ago
Im honestly suprised, like i was told it would help with like clarity about myself internally and such but it was like a fucking switch that was always suppsosed to be on finally got turned on (after like 2 months i think?)
2
u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset transfemby in denial 1h ago
honestly after like seven years of questioning myself this is the thing which has finally convinced me to seriously consider hrt
like, i thought hrt was pretty much entirely about physical changes. i thought that although i might be pleased with feminizing my body, it wasn't strictly necessary because i care more about feeling at home with myself in my mind, and in my mind i just want to be a human being (hence my current identification as transfemby). now that i've learnt that hrt really affects the mind in a good way for someone who's actually trans, i'm realizing that this might be the next big step for me in my life. i've already fixed a bunch of other things and i'm about to fix some more other things, and yet i still have this yearning for a part of me which has been missing for so long

This post reminds me of the time as a teenager about 15 years ago when my egg had already cracked for years and I was closeted because I knew my father was a bigoted piece of shit. I literally found his porn stash of hundreds of trans women stored in my computer somewhere.
We had one laptop between each other that I mostly used like 99% of the time, but sometimes heâd take the other 1% of the time.
One day, I was trying to free up some storage, so I went into the recycle bin to get rid of these files I hadnât used in weeks, but I wanted to scroll through it pretty quickly to make sure I wasnât getting rid of anything important I needed.
So I find this folder in my recycle bin called âpornâ. I didnât think anything of it because I had the tendency as a kid to make a folder called âpornâ on my desktop where I would keep private stuff I didnât want people to look at, and no, it wasnât actually porn. I just used to write my feelings down a lot and I wrote stuff about my sexuality that was meant to just be more for me as a diary.
So I clicked in it thinking I want to make sure I didnât write something important down.
Behold my surprise when I find an entire collection of 200 or so photos of just straight up MTF trans porn. Just endless women with dicks whipping them out and posing for the camera and, like, doing sexual acts with them. I was like âWhat the fuck is this? When the hell would I ever download this myself? Who the fuck even downloads and saves porn on their computer unless theyâre a degenerate?â until the realization dawned on me that it belonged to the one other person in the house that ever had access to it when heâd take it alone with him to his room.
Shit fucked me up for years. I knew he was a bigot, but finding his trans porn stash devastated me because it pretty much gave me direct confirmation about how he viewed people like me.
I never told him about it. I didnât even know what to do with all this information. Iâm 30 now, and I went into no-contact with him a year ago, and I still laugh at the guy who called me a pedophile having his trans porn stash saved on his kidâs computer. At this point, Iâm holding the fact that I know in my back pocket in case the day comes I could ever use this information to humiliate him. I donât know when or how this opportunity would ever arise, but itâs my nuclear button option for when he decides to harass me about being trans again and I want to burn that fucking bridge past the point of any sort of repair.

I had an incredibly abusive bigot mother who beat, abused and screamed at me for everything well before I knew I was trans. She is a known sociopath by both her and my fatherâs families (they are all non content), she killed pets, defrauded many of us (and a childrenâs hospital) and made me hate nearly every day of my young life. When I came out she left me homeless before I was done with h/s, ruined by credit, and sent me to a year of lockdown conversion therapy in Utah. Itâs been 18 years and I still have nightmares. Last I checked she was a ravenous Trump supporter sending threats to my sibling for finally going no contact.
On one or two offhand occasions she talked about wanting to be a man and why she thought that, etc. Itâs a pretty normal thought for everyone and I donât think she was trans but itâs not like I can know for certain.
Not that I ever plan on seeing or being in the same room with her but I sometimes think about how I would react if I found out she decided to transition (sheâs late 60âs).
Even as a trans woman I genuinely donât think I could or would ever willingly respect my mother or their new identity for what they hatefully put me through for mine. Literal imprisonment, labor slavery, psychic perdition, homelessness, and a life-long struggle with PTSD, etc.
This post makes me think about that.
