Wang jie aka Dave wang one of the greatest ifs in chinese music scene after the unfortunate event that changed his destiny as the greatest singer of his era and the natural successor to Leslie if not for a poisoning incident that severely damaged his vocal cords, career and Jacky Cheung dropping one of the greatest hits and cementing his status as the peak of cantopop

one of my all-time GOATS, man. i still hum his songs a lot to this day. i never saw him as competing with the canto singers as he was based in taiwan and i know him more for his mandarin songs.

his claims of someone (rumours say nicholas tse, of all people) poisoning him frankly sound quite crazy to me. he smoked and drank a lot, more likely it had something to do with that.

drinking and smoking don't damage the throat that severely poisoning it the only correct scenario otherwise he would have to smoke 4 packs a day for 8 years for his throat to get damaged that badly
