Sankey charts with no extra context will now be removed under rule 9

Per several requests mods have received and discussions, Sankey charts with no extra context will now be removed under rule 9.

What context is acceptable? Basically a bit like gpa, tier of college, previous internships, stuff that might go in a resume. You can try posting a resume but the bot might remove it per rule 5. If you do post a resume and it's removed message me directly and I'll fix that.

Got this email from Google 8-9 days ago..... Was a Summer Intern there in India. What are the chances that they do end up finding space later on? Also what does remain eligible for SWE opportunities mean? I mailed, but no response.

Internship Question undergrad internship postings starting to slow down?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a sophomore studying computer science and trying to figure out how the recruiting cycle works right now. I already have an offer locked down for the summer at RTX, but I'm honestly wondering if that's considered a solid spot to be in or if I should keep pushing for other places. I also don't want to be spending as much time as I did (So I can chud out) looking for some and would rather plan out on my calendar when the next cycle is?

Lately, it feels like a huge portion of the new postings I'm seeing are geared toward Master's or PhD students, which makes me think the main fall undergrad cycle is winding down. Can anyone confirm if that's typically how it goes around this time of year?

I've also heard that hiring tends to ramp back up in the spring once companies figure out their new fiscal budgets, but roughly when does that second wave actually start hitting job boards? Any insight on the timeline would be really helpful.

Getting Straight Rejections

So I’ve been applying a tonne but so far the only non automated OA I’ve gotten is robinhood and the only interviews I’ve gotten are Jane street (rejected at R1) and Citadel (rejected post super day). Super confused as to what’s going on. I go to Waterloo, have 3 past internships, 1 at a YC startup. Is this normal? I’ve probably sent out 500+ apps.

Is it a good idea to code slowly in an interview?

If I come to the optimal solution faster, in 15-20 minutes, then the interviewer can just keep asking follow-up questions, and I might stumble on one of them. If I come to the optimal solution in 30 minutes, and I'm spending more time explaining the code very simply and dry running it, so that the interviewer doesn't get more time to ask a lot of questions. Which one is better?

Is this a skill issue? What am I doing wrong?

I have interviewed at couple of Big tech + FAANG firms. I make it to the final round. I have prepped a lot of LC to a point where after iterating some time, I get almost all of the questions right and solve it optimally in the interviews I have given so far. I’m naturally a social person, I do a lot of things outside CS. I’m trying to understand, what could I improve on? I thought LC rounds were supposed to be collaborative but is that where I get it wrong? Should I just do everything by myself, straight up, no nods, no tryin to make sure the interviewer is on the same page? Or, are my stories not ticking the checkboxes?

People say the process is very deterministic but my experience has been nothing like that.

I’m grateful that I have a job atleast, but trying to move to a high paying job has been mentally challenging

Others Doing a second MS in CS

I graduated with an MS in CS this year but am considering doing a second one. My undergrad wasn’t CS so before my first masters, I had only taken like the intro CS series aka up to lower div DSA.

My masters was fine but very much a breadth instead of depth thing. It feels like I have the CS education of a normal CS undergrad that took a variety of upper div electives instead of specializing in anything.

I’m considering doing a second one at an online program like Georgia Tech or Texas. I believe those programs allow someone already with an MSCS provided they have a good reason, and I feel like my reason is good - my first MS was more of a general CS education and now I want to go deeper in a specialization.

Has anyone else actually done this before? I’ve tried the self learning path but honestly I think I need the schedule of an actual class to keep me accountable and on track

Internship Question DRW vs Annapurna Labs for SWE

I'm really confused between these two internships. Could someone help give some insight between which would be the better one to take?
This would probably be my last internship before graduating. DRW is a non-low latency role in python, and Annapurna labs is either inference or agentic ai team, idk yet.

I'm curious about what to pick based on the following factors:

Intern to Full time RO rate (If anyone knows, please share)
TC (If anyone knows, please share)
Career progression within the company
Growth in the sense of exit opportunities to other firms
Culture/wlb
Location

Also, I'm really not sure what specific field in tech am I interested in (like idk if ML systems is what I want to, I'm just looking to explore right now). I don't think I want to be in quant my whole life, but I'm open to trying it out if that means it opens other good doors for me.

Thank you!

Notion SWE internship interview tips?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I have an upcoming Notion SWE internship interview and would love to hear from anyone who has been through the process.

I have the coding (60 mins) + debugging (60 mins) ounds coming up. Does anyone have general advice on what to expect or how to prepare, especially for the coding portion? Do they expect TypeScript use for both interviews?

Any insight would be really appreciated! Feel free to comment or DM me if you are open to sharing your experience. Thanks!

Internship Question SpaceX Embedded Intern Technical Interview - help pls

Hi, as the title suggests I have a 2nd round (assuming final round) interview with SpaceX for a firmware intern role (I think specifically flight software). If I'm being honest, I haven't coded much in C/C++ recently and have been doing SystemVerilog and Bluespec so I'm fairly rusty and pretty worried. Does anybody know what I should expect and study for? Do I need to do Leetcode questions?

Thanks a bunch!

Others Developer with 1.5 YOE Which skills should I prioritize for my next job?

• Upvotes

I've been laid off recently and have 1.5 years of experience working with MERN and backend development. I'm comfortable with LeetCode medium problems.

I've started preparing for interviews, but I'm unsure which tech stack and skills to prioritize in the current Al-driven market.

For developers who recently switched jobs, what does the interview process look like, and what should I focus on beyond DSA? Should I deepen my backend skills, learn Al integration, or explore another stack?

I'd appreciate practical advice based on recent interview experiences. Thanks 🙏

Company Question Id.me AI Led Interview SDE Intern

Hello, I recently received an AI Led Interview invite for ID.me. The original email said that I could take the AI interview or discuss things with a recruiter for alternative options. The email came from a noreply inbox though, and I cannot find a recruiter contact online anywhere.

I'd prefer not to take the interview with an AI agent and would prefer to speak with someone face to face. Does anyone know anything about this interview process?

Company Question chance of second OA

Hey guys, as the title suggests, i’m trying to see if there is any chance I can get another OA from microsoft. I’m a sophomore and had recieved an OA for SWE intern position that went pretty terrible. Now I have applied to explore and I am really hoping that they reconsider me by giving a new OA. Does anyone know how this works in microsoft?

Company Question How do you solve a question if you’ve seen it before?

Hi all I have a Google interview coming up soon and I’ve been studying neetcode for the past few months. One thing I’m wondering is how you’re supposed to handle seeing a question you’re familiar with. Like should I pretend I haven’t seen it before or should I try to solve it as quickly as possible?

If I solve it to quickly and the interviewer thinks I knew it beforehand will they give me a different problem?
