Since there is AI and the new trendy github repo"Rea" do people stop using Jira, Linear and build their own now? since it it just CRUD app

Do companies tell devs like bro go build Jira with Claude so we dont have to pay for them?

And IT team will get some bonus

Big companies would never stop using complex tools just because it is possible to vibe code “alternative” in a week. Unless they want to sell it to others. Maintenance is a way bigger issue than building

Have you ever worked at a company? Do the words like maintenance, support, compliance, backups etc mean anything to you?

i get what you said but if it is a small company/startup where those compliances and things you mention it doesn't matter right now

they want something free. Isn't it better spend 1-4 days vibe code those app and use itself?

Better to pay for a SaaS tool and focus on what generates revenue also SaaS tools are much more budget friendly at a small scale

Those companies either use free versions of software or develop in-house already anyway.

the missing 10% of features is the 99% of development and design time

besides they need a server, which you won't reverse-engineer

There has been open source version of jira for many many years. No need to build a new version if you don’t wanna pay for a hosted version.

How should we know? Some will, some won't. I'd doubt it's a good idea unless you really need some custom functionality.

Not usually but Jira fell out of favour due to their licensing changes

We have played about with our own process tools but it's more driven by AI speeding up development so that the old process doesn't make sense as the bottlenecks are in other places

There are some vibecoded apps around in other departments but they're more in the CRM/Salesforce space

Jira sucks. Linear is great but even more expensive. Few good options exist that are truly open source.

And yes. With AI it is easy to roll your own for many tools. Hence why Saaspocalype has been trending. My place just replicated Posthog to kill that fee. Jira was discussed for now there was no appetite to build a replacement.
