Groove Agent 6 SE - poly & excl
Hi all.
I recently started using groove agent for slicing and launching sounds from pads. While doing that I wanted to use “choke groups”.
In this software I believe they are to be set up under the “excl” number you assign to the pads. But I think it’s bugged.
In my case, I have 3 samples in 3 pads. I set all of them with poly 4 and excl 1. None of them cut each other. They can sound at the same time.
If I go poly 1. Then they cut each other even if they are in different excl numbers. Is this intended???
I’ve been trying different ways for 2 days and I think it’s bugged. I have seen posts from years ago with similar issues. Still not fixed?
If anyone knows how to properly set choke groups pls help me.
Thanks!!!!

That isn't the documented behaviour. Poly limits repeated voices on one pad; Excl is meant to stop other pads in the same group. You shouldn't need Poly 1 to make an exclusive group choke. The distinction is in the Main tab section of the SE 6 manual: https://www.steinberg.help/v/u/groove_agent_se_6_0_operation_manual_en.pdf

Yes I agree with you but I can’t get it to work the intended way. Not in groove agent stand alone or inside cubase.
You own the software? I’d appreciate if you could try if it works for you. Maybe i should reinstall I don’t know what to do…

I haven't tested this in SE 6; my reply was based on the manual. I can't confirm whether it's a bug in your version, and I don't have a verified reason to recommend reinstalling it. Sorry I can't give you the reproduction check you're after.

Hmmm.. I have had no problem setting up choke groups for hihats example. Im not at the computer, but if I remember correctly, you set the polyphony to 1 and assing the pads to a choke/mute group and it should work as intended. I can check it and get back to you. 👍
