Help! Friz
Hi everyone!
I need help. No matter what routine or what products i use my hair is SO frizzy. I think it’s because of either new growth or breakage, so there’s a million layers in my hair.
My current routine
- Shampoo roots with thanks to nature cool curls x2
- Condition ends with thanks to nature cool curls
- make sure hair is very damp then apply georgiemane curl creme in sections, and each section i use my curl brush
- once i’ve done my whole head i use some giannini scrunching jelly and scrunch it in to my hair
- at the end i’ll get a little bit more jelly and lightly apply to my roots to try flatten them
- sometimes i diffuse sometimes i dont, it tends to make my hair a lot frizzier so ill usually defuse for a few mins then let air dry
I’ve tried different routines and i really struggle to have a proper routine as the results are never good. so i dont often stick to i, 9/10 i just let my hair air dry without any curl creme as its too much effort for no results.
- first 3 photos are after today’s wash and doing the routine. in certain lighting you can see the frizz
- the next 5 is my hair usually and how frizzy it is
- the last 2 is after getting my hair done by a curly hairdresser, it only looked like this for a couple hours then was a mess again
i don’t know if my hair is curly, wavy, straight, or what hair type it is. but anything i do it just looks like a mess. i rarely use heat and i dont dye my hair its natural
i try very hard to not brush when dry but i usually have to otherwise it looks so bad

Are you shampooing everyday? I’d recommend cutting down. It worked wonders for my hair. And finding a GOOD shampoo/conditioner mixture.
I use Ouai clarifying shampoo once a week, argan oil hair mask same day. Giovanni deep conditioner everyday.

Clarifying shampoo (like others have mentioned) might help.
My hair is very similar and what works best for me is lots of leave in conditioner. I actually use a light hypoallergenic wash out conditioner as my leave in. My hair is about the same length and puffiness as yours and I use probably a good 3-4 TBSP of conditioner. I really scrunch it in to wet hair (not soaking wet, but with some squish to it). I can leave it to air dry like that and it will keep it from being poofy and the curls/waves will be reasonably defined. It doesn’t make my hair greasy. I wash twice a week.
If I want more definition I use a foam (the doux) and use 6 pumps for my whole head and squish that in on top of the conditioner. Sometimes I scrunch with a microfiber towel after if I want it to dry quicker.

hi im a guy who is as like “fuck it we ball” about my curls as i possibly can be, so apologies if this is a total waste of ur time
to start, prolly a stupid question, but is giannini scrunching jelly just not giving you any hold
like idk what the product is or is about or does so like forgive my lack of ball knowledge
to me this looks like “get a gel that forms a cast and break it once the hair is dry”
but idk maybe im wrong maybe giannini’s got the sauce for that and its not the solution
since no one else has commented this yet im gonna assume im wrong but hey maybe this is the missing piece

First, should be styling on soaking wet hair. Not just damn hair second, how often do you clarify your hair third was the last time you had a trim or had any layers cut into your hair? All of those things should help reduce frizz.

Hi there! I'm a bot, and I've been summoned to help.
If you have not seen our WIKI yet: Please check it out! It's nearly 100 pages full of curated information to help answer all of your curl-related questions. You can use the included Table of Contents (page 2), the side bar, or CTRL-F to search for keywords and help navigate the document.
Reminder: Curl type is NOT your hair type! Whether you are wavy, curly, or coily - you have texture and you belong here. More than that, your curl type doesn't dictate how you care for your hair. To help your curls thrive, we recommend instead using the wiki link above to learn about your porosity, texture, and density.
If you haven't added a routine yet, do it ASAP or your post will be removed!|
