Discussion Did I mess up in Catacombs?
It's my first time playing Darksouls and Im doing it blind, so I know only a few generic things about this game like dont kill the npcs because they dont respawn... well I was doing good about that rule until I went deep into the catacombs after the boss where its nothing but pitch black caves and I accidentally decapitated a human knight npc. Did I mess up on a questline or missed opportunity with him via items?

Was he holding a square shield and a spear? Nothing essential really.

That was just Patches then, sold a couple items but nothing really important, he is kind of a kind anyways.

He sells you some items and teaches you a gesture (Prostration).

The masks can be useful for certain builds, but other than that you can get by just fine.

Assuming you did this before the halfway point of the game, you missed one of the best questlines. As well as a shop and a full armor set.
If you did this after acquiring the Lordvessel, then you only missed a shop.

I killed him after getting Lordvessel, but I am curious.. I remember seeing a group of npcs near fat cleric guy one time near base camp and then they disappeared. I talked to fat cleric again and he said they were down in the tombs, but I never saw them there nor do I get his dialogue about them anymore. I managed to explore ( I think ) all of the tombs except for the outer cave with an exit shielded off by gold light. Without spoiling too much, do I still need to explore down there more? Or should I continue where I left off which was draining the water from New Londos

So, that guy you killed was going to tell you to look over there where there's treasure and then kick you into it that place. There, in that place you will find the girl that was praying near the fat cleric guy and her 2 guards. You kind of need to rescue her by killing her 2 guards that have gone hollow. You will also find a shield that is basically a lamp to be able to see in tomb of the giants and not stumble on to those big skeleton beasts.
She will be on Undead Parish where you rang the first bell after you rescue her selling advanced miracles like Wrath of the Gods which is crazy powerful in this game (almost no casting time and huge damage). Watch out for Petrus though, he... didn't really get lost when he was with them in the catacombs.

Only if you needed any of the Cleric items he carries. He's a bit of a prick, I try to keep him alive to buy his stuff before I Fire Tempest him off of Firelink

He had hair , with shield. Kinda squeamish. And he asked "what did I do?" I felt really bad. I am in Tomb of Giants btw

😂 This game really has me attached to all the npcs on here. I was ashamed to find out one of them betrayed me earlier
