Hi, I'm a 48 yo German male wondering if the music I make counts as DAWless when I'm using an Arturia KeyStep Pro as a sequencer.
And if I have to record the things I do in Audacity instead of Cakewalk Sonar to meet requirements.
Is this sub about not using MIDI tracks? Software instruments? Multi track hard disc recording?

Hi! I'm finally moving my main dawless setup into a single case to handle it more easily, this also means having everything (almost) permanently wired, I'm looking for ideas on how to improve this setup or anything I might have missed
Currently I have 4 different stereo outputs:
- MC707
- MusicThingModular Music Radio -> Evil Pet
- Crave -> Klowra Everlast -> Space
- Tangerine -> Kaoss Pad 3
MIDI is organised around the 707 being the sequencer, OUT 1 clocks the Keystep and Kaoss Pad, Keystep is routed back into IN of the 707 and gets fed thru it to Crave, Tangerine and Evil Pet, this way I can use the Keystep's arpeggiator to create meolody lines and loop them onto the 707. The 707's 8 tracks have MIDI channel 2 thru 8 and 10 (for drums), track 2 gets always routed to the Crave, sometimes I use a sound from the same track on the707 to double it. Evil Pet is MIDI ch11, Tangerine is ch12 although I almost never play it chromatically, I mostly use it for various drones and ambience samples
Thanks!

Here´s an album I made using the Roland SP-404 MKII and P-6 samplers. It´s all sample based and very lo-fi at times. Some very blatant sample loops are used sometimes. Sample sources are varied. Hip-hop influenced beats. Check it out if you have time

Hi, i have a Zoom ltrak 6 max, which is very good mixer, but lack seperate EQ buttons, cue function and overview which you have on larger mixers. I am thinking of Tascam Model 12 or more a dj mixer like Model1. Not sure a Tascam has a cue function (pre listening) and model1 has no recording options, which I like. What are you guys using in your setup?

Hey everyone! 👋
I just put together a new deep-dive tutorial and jam showing how I build a heavy, rolling Hardgroove Techno groove using only the Roland TR-8S.
We go over step sequencing, percussion layering, and live tweaking to get that proper club bounce.
As a bonus for anyone wanting to test the workflow out, I’ve also put together a free pattern & sample kit (.PRG + .TXT) that you can find in video description.
Let me know what you think of the mix, or if you have any questions about how I routed the internal effects on the TR-8S! Cheers!

I have a behringer neutron I was thinking of using it with and also combining it with my small eurorack. I've seen a few comments saying it's a bad sequencer though. For the price is it good? If not are there any others in that price range you'd reccomend for techno and stuff.

The Behringer Edge can sound soo nasty and noisey in the best way, its such a dope synth! And the EMX is fantastic too. Happy I pulled it out and have been missing with it. The FM stuff it can do is very nasty as well.
This is a super raw jam, no edits or anything. Lots of fun on a Friday
