Recently bought 2 (different) 2p starter sets. What's the best way to combine the scenery and what is "safe" to glue?
I bought the 2 different starter sets thinking it's nice value (2 faction starters and extra terrain :)).
Does anyone have any tips on how to best combine the scenery kits? I'd prefer to have some buildings glued for both easy painting and saving in setup time.
Also, can you screw yourself if you make a "bad" army list for the faction starters? Any tips on that?

I found the terrain required glue, they weren't really easy to disassemble without breaking the joints. So look around at what you see in pictures, and build that. Not quite as easy to store, but it really isn't easy to disassemble!

if you want to glue the terrain best is to make basic geometric shapes and use the bits and connectors to make them stack able, see this article https://www.manticgames.com/news/building-a-deadzone-factory-using-terraincrate-battlezones/ and this blog post https://mcnerdiganspub.blogspot.com/2015/04/how-i-built-my-mantic-battlezones-for.html
for the lists, while you can make bad lists, there are enough models in the sets to make some options and you don't need all of them for a team

Dry fit with your connectors first then glue. I prefer super glue over plastic glue. The best ideas I got were looking at pictures of terrain other people did and using that as inspiration.
You can make bad lists. Some lists are pretty straightforward, others require a deeper understanding of the game rules to use well, and some require a lot of experience to pull off. This is something that is true for each faction though some factions are easier to see what the straightforward lists are intially.
I recommend you check out the Mantic Companion and look at the public Deadzone lists for your factions to get ideas. People have probably labeled some as using the starter set models as well.

I've done a similar thing by buying a second set of terrain along with a single starter set.
I built the first set of terrain into a series of one and two cube "ruins", so 2 or 3 walls at right angles and a bit of flooring, and some bits are more like barricades.
For the second set I built a two storey tower a single cube in area, a single storey barricade type structure that was 4 cubes wide, and a big wrecked building 3 storeys high and 4 squares in area. Having now played with them a bit, I wouldn't bother with the long barricade again as it's a bit unwieldy to fit on the board, but the rest of the stuff covers the board nicely, alongside a load of 3d printed barrels and crates I bought separately on Etsy.
As others have said, you will want to glue the terrain as it is a pain to put together and take apart, and it does tend to fall apart if it's not glued, especially when you're making taller bits of scenery.
In terms of lists, you can certainly make bad lists, but there is no law against saying "this model which technically has a veterans head is actually a regular soldier" or "this veer-myn clrawler which I've painted with a blue spot is actually a stalker". So don't get too hung on WYSIWYG model building.
