The hatred toward men seeping into Democratic politics doesn't help

To be clear, I am a Democrat and have never voted for a Republican.  I am pro-choice and generally in favor of gay rights.

Since I have been going on the Internet when I was a kid, I have found it to be pervaded by negativity toward, and about, men.   It has affected my life.

However, I have never considered Democratic politics to be anti-male.

In 2024, I was trying to contribute to the Harris campaign and was called a “mediocre man” and a “mediocre white man.”  And apparently that same thing was lodged at other men (or other white men) by members of the Harris campaign.

And recently, at a debate between Conley and Lawler, during discussion about the Cornell incident, Conley told Lawler not to “mansplain” and to go sit in a corner.  Reasonable minds may disagree about what happened (and what men to blame) at Cornell.  And I am not familiar with Lawler’s Elliot Spitzer allegation.  But another candidate disagreeing with you should not be met with disrespect just because that opponent is male.   It’s a debate.  A man shouldn’t have the temerity to disagree with you?

If there are people in the Democratic Party who hate men, I hope they know that the election of their candidates relies upon men to vote in their favor as well as women.  And I hope they know that there are many women out there who also don’t hate men and who might be turned off by indications of negativity toward men.

Not all Democrats have animosity toward men (I would venture to say that most Democrats don’t) and I don’t think it’s helpful to a candidate or a campaign to express animus toward men.

If there are any people out there who hate men, they might choose another venture that don’t require them to gain the votes of men (or women who don’t hate men).
