How are non-CS "vibe coders" actually landing dev roles in Kenya right now?

Hey everyone,

With how fast AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, v0, etc.) are evolving, the barrier to building functional software has dropped massively. I’m curious to learn from this community—especially those who don't have a formal Computer Science degree.

If you consider yourself a "vibe coder" or self-taught developer leveraging AI to ship fast:

How are you positioning yourself to employers or local clients?

What actually gets your foot in the door? (Is it a portfolio of live shipped apps, GitHub, networking, or cold outreach?)

Are local companies and agencies open to hiring based on shipping speed and proof of work, or are degrees still a major gatekeeper here?

Would love to hear honest experiences, success stories, or advice from anyone navigating the job/freelance market in Nairobi right now!
