Help PWC vs Deloitte USI , Kolkata, AI Architect role….

**PwC vs Deloitte USI: which is better for work-life balance, hikes, and variable pay?**

I have two offers for an AI Architect role (India) and need help choosing. I have 9.3 years of experience in total.

**Offers:**

  1. **PwC**
    * Designation: Senior Manager
    * Salary: 46 LPA fixed + up to 35% variable

  2. **Deloitte USI**
    * Designation: Manager
    * Salary: 50 LPA fixed + up to 10% variable

I'm drawn to the Senior Manager designation at PwC, but I'd like to hear from people who have worked at either firm.

**What I'd like to know:**
* Which has the better work-life balance?
* How are annual hikes and promotions at each?
* How reliably is the variable pay actually paid out, and at what percentage of target?
* Does the Senior Manager title at PwC mean a real difference in role and growth, or is it just a title?

Thanks in advance!

Career Should I switch from Oracle Fusion Cloud to another tech domain for better salary growth?

For context, I graduated in 2019 with a B.Tech in ECE from IIIT. I also appeared for GATE and secured an AIR of around 1200 in ECE, but I decided to take a job instead of pursuing higher studies.

I started my career at a service-based company at 6.8 LPA, where I worked for around 2.5 years. Since then, I've been working at a Big 4 consulting firm for the past five years.

My current CTC is around ₹27–27.5 LPA, including ₹23.5 LPA fixed and ₹2.5 LPA variable. I work in Oracle Fusion Cloud technical consulting.

The problem is that many of my college batchmates are earning almost 2x or even 3x my salary. I understand that comparing salaries isn't always productive, but it has made me question whether I'm in the right domain.

I'm trying to understand what my options are at this stage of my career.

- Is there still good salary growth potential in Oracle Fusion Cloud technical consulting?

- Would switching to a different domain, such as cloud engineering, data engineering, or AI/ML, make sense?

- If I switch, should I build on my existing Oracle experience or start learning a completely new technology stack?

- What would be the most realistic path to reaching ₹40–50 LPA or more over the next few years?

I'd appreciate advice from people who have worked in Oracle technologies, switched domains, or navigated similar career decisions.

Is switching domains the right move, or should I focus on specializing further in my current field?

General Why Amazon search is so bad despite having a big engineering team?

Both amazon shopping and primevideo has terrible search. Flipkart has way better filters and search than amazon. In amazon applying more filters gives even more results 😂. Combined with loading results after adding each filter makes UX very bad.

Why the hell the company with so much workforce and known for bad work life balance not able to fix it?

Interviews How was your first interview. I think I bombed my first interview.

So yesterday I had my first ever interview and I can believe that I bombed it.

I knew the answers before going in the cabin as soon as I reached the cabin my mind went blank the technical lead asked me the same question twice as I was telling everything related to it but not the defination.

The HR started to ask questions, about future plan and i directly said I would like to be in this company for atleast 2 years.

When I came out of the office i realised all of my mistakes and that made me realise how badly I answered the interview. There were more questions which I answered badly like really badly. I atleast somewhat answered the technical questions but i checked all red flags while answering to HR.

In the end when they asked me if I have question for them I asked question to Technical lead which pissed him also i guess.

And now I am thinking about it continuosly and don't know what to do.

Please if anyone have experience with such situation tell me how did you deal with it.

Help Is QSpiders/JSpiders worth joining for DevOps training and placements in Bangalore?

Hey everyone!

I’m a 2025 AIML graduate based in Bangalore. I completed an internship at a company, but the role wasn’t very technical, and taking up a full-time position there didn’t seem worthwhile for my career goals.

I’ve been unemployed for the past 5 months and have been trying to find a job, but unfortunately, I haven’t received many interview calls. I’ve had a few assignments here and there, but nothing that has led to an actual interview.

I’m now considering joining a training institute with placement assistance, and QSpiders/JSpiders is one of the options I’m looking into. I’m particularly interested in learning DevOps and trying to get into a technical role.

I wanted to ask people who have experience with these institutes:

Is QSpiders/JSpiders worth joining for DevOps training?

How good is the teaching, especially for someone starting from scratch?

Do they genuinely provide placement opportunities, and how good are the placements?

What is the current fee structure for the DevOps course?

Are there any other institutes in Bangalore that you would recommend over them?

I’d really appreciate honest reviews, especially from people who have studied there or got placed through them.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Tips 4+ YOE, currently SDE-2, but getting rejected for SDE-2 roles , what am I missing?

I've given three interviews over the last few months, and all three times, I was rejected in the final round with essentially the same feedback:

"You're a good fit for SDE-1, but we expect more from an SDE-2."

For context, I currently work as an SDE-2 and have 4+ years of experience.

I'm trying to understand what companies expect from an SDE-2 candidate that differentiates them from an SDE-1. I understand that expectations around ownership, system design, problem-solving, and technical depth increase with seniority, but I'm struggling to identify exactly where I'm falling short.

I'd also appreciate suggestions on how to identify and address these gaps before my next interview.

Help Data Engineering to Murex Datamart Developer, Is it worth it?

I have been working as a Data Engineer in the software industry for the past 3–4 years. Previously, I worked as a Murex Datamart Developer for one year, where I worked with Murex applications, extracted data, wrote SQL/PL-SQL queries, and delivered reports to business teams in Excel format.

Recently, I have been considering returning to Murex Datamart development because AI is rapidly automating various IT tasks. Considering the widespread use of Murex in financial institutions, do you think it will remain relevant over the next 15–20 years?

What are the long-term career prospects in Murex, and would returning to this domain be a wise career decision in the age of AI?

Suggestions Thinking of switching to system programming because I'm fed up of web dev and AI

I work in a video streaming company and I'm actually fed up of the coding practices that are being followed! There is literally direct prompting to AI and it gives code and I review it and test it and its done. No research no problem solving! Just dont feel like doing it.

I'm thinking of transitioning into system programming since I think it more critical and I think its more about less amount of code and more amount of problem solving! Any advice on whether I should do it or is it the same scenario there as well?

Help Data Analyst with 2.5 YOE, struggling at current job. Should I switch to Customer Success Manager role or stay in analytics?

Hi everyone,

I have around 2.5 years of experience. I worked as a Business Analyst at a startup for 2 years before switching to a Data Analyst role at a reputed media company in May 2026. My current fixed CTC is ₹10.5 LPA.

I handle end-to-end analytics for a few products, including reporting, product analytics, growth, and tracking. The work itself is fine, but the workload has become extremely difficult to manage.

I commute from Delhi to Noida, which takes around 2 hours each way. I leave home around 9 AM and usually return around 9 PM. Most days, I end up working overtime at home, and sometimes even on weekends, since I'm the primary person responsible for analytics for my products.

I recently had a discussion with my manager, who said they weren't happy with my performance. The company is also known for frequent layoffs, with another round expected in October, so I'm worried about my job security.

Honestly, my personal life has taken a hit since joining. I barely get time for myself or my family, and I haven't been able to focus on upskilling or preparing for CAT, which I plan to take this year.

I've been actively looking for jobs and have applied to 800+ positions, but the response has been disappointing.

Currently, I have a few options:

1. Customer Success Manager at a cybersecurity startup

I've received an offer of ₹13.5 LPA for a fully remote role. The salary and remote setup are attractive, especially considering my current work-life balance.

However, I'm confused about switching from analytics to Customer Success. My long-term goal is to move towards Product Management, and I'm wondering whether this switch could help me get there or make it harder to return to analytics later.

2. Senior Digital Analyst interview at a fintech company

I have a technical round coming up for a hybrid Senior Digital Analyst role. This would allow me to continue in analytics, which seems more aligned with my long-term goals.

However, HR mentioned that since I've been at my current company for only around 4.5 months, they might only match my current salary of ₹10.5 LPA.

Is it still possible to negotiate a 15–25% hike in this situation, or does switching jobs so soon weaken my bargaining power significantly?

3. Other opportunities

Most of the other opportunities I've come across are at small startups, contractual positions, or companies with 1–2 year bonds. Given my current situation, I'm hesitant to take on that kind of risk.

I'm also considering an MBA, so I don't want to make a decision that negatively affects my long-term career.

My probation ends in November, and my notice period during probation is 15 days. Given the feedback from my manager and the possibility of layoffs, I'm worried about what might happen next.

I'm confused about a few things:

  • Should I accept the remote CSM offer or continue looking for analytics roles?
  • Would moving to Customer Success help me transition into Product Management in the future?
  • Is leaving a reputed company within 5 months for a startup a bad move for my CV?
  • How to negotiate for salary in my situation given i am switching soo soon?
  • Should I prioritize CAT preparation over staying at my current company?

I'm honestly feeling quite stuck. I don't want to make a decision purely out of fear or exhaustion, but my current situation doesn't feel sustainable either.

Would really appreciate some honest advice, especially from people who've switched domains or faced a similar situation. What would you do in my position?

Career Feeling a little lost early in my career. Would appreciate some advice.

Hey everyone, I'm a recent graduate working as a software engineer. tbh grateful for where I am financially but lately I've been questioning whether I'm growing enough technically.

I'm working in an early age startup, doing a mix of frontend and backend work(even though i am primarily a backend engineer) including building a Java Spring Boot microservice. The work is interesting but there's limited technical mentorship and I often have to figure things out myself. Also I feel there is no good technical review , mentorship sth. Even I feel excluded from people in my team like not able to connect with anyone tbh.

The bigger concern is work-life balance. 9-10 hours everyday work ,sometime weekends(lol ig everytime), leaving me with little time to learn, pursue hobbies or spend time with family.

I want to become a strong engineer but I also want a life outside work.

I am also much dependent on claude now due to tight deadlines/expectations, I sometimes don't even see the code just see if it's working or not. I know I am in a bad situation but what to do? please someone help me out

For people who've been in the industry longer, how do you decide whether to be patient and grow in your current role or look for a better environment?

Like currently in an early age startup but in future(after 1 year hopefully) want to be in good product based company with good work life balance.

Tech stack: java,spring,python, AI side - Langchain,Langraph,RAG, react(basics)

General Yesterday marked my last day. I'm already feeling suicid*l.

Yesterday was my LWD after getting laid off from a startup. I worked as a Frontend developer for 2 years there .

I don't know what to do ? The gap in my career is killing makes me feel like a failure.

I feel like a failure. Got into 5 interviews in between 2 telephonic and 3 interviews.

Bombed 2 of them.

It's hard to sit at home in your mid 20's

If you're from Mumbai or hiring anywhere and hiring for a Frontend dev with 2.2 years of exp.

The salary expectation of mine is 6 LPA

Thank you

Edit : Thank you each and every one out here. I really appreciate your words here. I'm feeling much better. Hope to get another job soon 💫

Tips 3 YOE .NET and Angular developer previously worked at Big4

I am currently earning around 13 CTC in a small service company(1500 employees).

I do not see any openings for .net developers, while I see relatively a lot more openings for java developers.

Objectively

1) Where am I financially, in terms of salary.

2) Is there a future for .NET ,

3) if you are a net dev, what are your plans, salary and experiences.

General I checked 20,000 “Entry level” engineering jobs in India over 3 weeks. About 1 in 10 was actually open to freshers.

I run a small job board for engineering students and freshers, so I filter a lot of postings. Between 25 Sep and 13 Oct I looked at 20,118 engineering jobs in India that were tagged "Entry level", all at established companies (around 1,900 MNCs, product companies and funded startups, no random agencies).

Here's what they actually were:

- 43% had Senior, Lead, Principal or Staff in the title

- 7% were level II or higher (SDE III, Engineer 2 and so on)

- 6% were Manager roles, another 6% Consultant or Architect

- 18% asked for 2+ years in the description, and 6% asked for 5+

- 6% were marked Mid-Senior on the posting itself

- About 10% passed every check and were genuinely open to a fresher

Real titles that were tagged entry level: "SDE III - Backend", "Red Teaming - Manager", "Senior Consultant", "Informatica Developer | 4-7 Years".

What helped me filter:

  1. Search with fresher words instead of trusting the filter: "SDE 1", "Associate Software Engineer", "Graduate Engineer Trainee", "2026 batch", "fresher"

  2. Skip anything with II/III, Senior, Lead or Manager in the title, whatever the tag says

  3. Ctrl+F "years" before applying. Most of the fake entry-level ones say it in the second paragraph

Happy to answer questions about how I counted.

General People who feel disillusioned by tech, what are you plans now?

I've been thinking a lot about my work and life lately, and there are not a lot of people I can talk to in my real life about this situation, so here I am, looking forward to how you guys are feeling about this whole thing.

I have genuinely loved programming more than half my life. I wrote my first program in BASIC when I was 11 years old. I always enjoyed solving problems. And, I have done fairly good for myself, graduated from one of the IITs, worked across FAANMG and startups for the last 10 years, built personal projects with over thousands of users. I have genuinely enjoyed my work, and it never felt boring, or exhausting.

But, that spark is gone. With the rapid advances in LLMs in the past couple of years, and the increasing demand for shipping things quickly and without oversight, the joy of building things is gone. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand these tools are powerful, and they are only getting better each day.

I am a staff engineer, so I know software engineering is not only about "coding". But, in real world, with the pace that everyone wants things shipped, and the fact that you're not closer to the codebase as you used to, I find myself "lacking" in how well I understood systems that I built, or used. All of the things that actually gave me joy, getting in the "zone" and coding for a few hours straight, debugging a problem that had a couple of engineers at their wits end, writing a well thought through design doc, discussing actual optimisation problems at scale, none of them are happening anymore.

Financially, I'm fortunate to have accumulated a great deal in savings and investments (over 9Cr). But, I feel I'd probably need around 12 Crs to comfortably call it a day. Now, that would probably take a couple of years, or more (the market gods haven't been that happy lately), but the fact that I am so close, has made me even more disillusioned about the whole thing. I am not here to brag, or be a case of "my steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery", but money alone is no longer a motivator, and every day feels like wasting my existence.

One of the things that I was looking forward was to move abroad in a couple of years. That was also one of the motivators to stick through it, but the anti immigration sentiment across US, the visa situation (or lack thereof), the job market situation, and the fact that nobody knows what's out there in the next couple of years has made me reconsider whether even that's an option.

This has left me in a strange position. On one hand, I have a career that has treated me well financially, and coming from a not so great financial background, leaving so much money on the table given the uncertainty in the future, seems, for lack of a better word, stupid. On the other hand, I'm increasingly questioning whether I want to spend those years doing something I no longer find as fulfilling.

I'm curious to hear from people who have experienced something similar.

  • How are you thinking about the future?
  • People who were planning to move abroad in the next couple of years, are you still considering the move?
  • For those pursuing FIRE, have the changes in the past couple of years, affected your plans in any way?

P.S. No tokens were wasted on this rambling.

Career QA Automation to Data Engineer — Need Career Transition Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working as a QA Engineer in India with 1.7 years of experience. My experience includes manual testing, Playwright with TypeScript, automation framework development from scratch, basic API testing, and SQL fundamentals.

I want to transition into a Data Engineering role after completing my 3-year employment bond. I’m using this time to build the required skills and practical projects.

My planned roadmap:

  • Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, Git/GitHub
  • Pandas, ETL/ELT, data modeling, and data quality
  • Linux, Docker, Apache Airflow, and CI/CD
  • Azure or AWS, Spark, and PySpark

I plan to build an end-to-end pipeline project covering API data extraction, data cleaning, incremental loading, PostgreSQL, scheduling, logging, and error handling.

I’d appreciate your advice on:

  1. Is transitioning from QA Automation to Data Engineering realistic?
  2. Can my QA experience provide an advantage?
  3. Is my roadmap in the right order?
  4. Which cloud platform should I learn first: Azure or AWS?
  5. What projects and skills would help me get my first Data Engineer job in India?

I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have made a similar transition.

Thanks!

General what would be the future jobs of software engineers? if they transition to a new role, what would be it? how will be the software industry would look like ? will it be more decentralised with very low pay?

With AI, building a software becomes cheap. Anyone can built their own software. So the software commodity has become very cheap, and anyone around the world can built it quick.

When such a commodity can built for almost free and by anyone, how will you see the existing tech companies survive ? how will software engineers survive ? also there is exactly no real skill acquiring while doing any project at a company, one can be easily replaceable with anyone anytime. There is no difference between an software engineer working at google vs any other company, both use AI , and learnings are same.

what would be the future jobs of software engineers? if they transition to a new role, what would be it?

how will be the software industry would look like ? will it be more decentralised with very low pay?

Interviews An anonymous AI interviewer that helps you prepare for your interview

Hey guys,

After a stress full week, I thought to utilize claude tokens on a take home assignment I did a year back.

I think, it's now come up to a hmm level from meh. I didn't invest a single penny (apart from my time). The models that are being used are free apart from everything else.

I don't expect many people to try out the website, but I did implement per user token limit (I hope it is generous).

You don't have to sign up, if you want to save your history, you can use a passkey (top-right icon).

All you have to do is, upload your resume and enter the job description (software engineer in google or anything). It fetches some details from the company repository and then asks level of the interview (junior, mid, senior). And then you can get started.

It works in 2 ways, one is coach mode and the other is mock mode. In coach mode, for every interviewer's question, you can ask the coach about how to answer the correctly or what was wrong in your answer or something like that. In mock mode, it's just questions and answers and at the end it gives you a score.

I haven't included voice support as of now because I find the text mode much better.

If you have some time to spare, pls feel free to play around with this app. Pls don't abuse the tokens 🥲, and pls don't mind vercel's serverless cold starts.

app link: https://ai-interviewer-mnp.vercel.app/

repo link: https://github.com/mnp-gh/ai-interviewer
