Goodbye dishwashing, hello to becoming a janitor

Honestly I never been so happy in my life, I was getting so burnt out on this job and wanted something new. I gave my two week notice and now I am free, honestly I never been so happy in a long time. My hours stacked really bad and now I have weekend free ( well I will have one day for weekend, but that doesn’t matter too much ). Including I get paid the same, so I no longer will need to rush my jobs too much.

I’d rather be a dishwasher than a janitor.Id do dishes forever if it paid a living wage.

Honestly the issue for me is the job because place I work at was so massive that it was too stressful for me

For every 3 cooks there’s supposed to be one dishwasher. Most places just stress the dishes and try to use him as a backup cook while your doing dishes while they already have 5 cooks for some reason.

Curious how you came to these numbers? We seat over 300 in the summer when outside dining is open and our dishwasher is on break 20% of his shift while 4 or 5 us crank food for fucking 10 hours straight

Experience.Plus there are times cooking requires patience.Which will slow you down as a cook. There’s 5 of you though if you have no time for breaks it’s cause you don’t have an actual team.Ive been a dishwasher and a cook.Cooking is way easier.

Thats your opinion.... i would assume most cooks have been a dishwasher at some point... as have I and find dishwashing to be much easier than leading a brigade... as far as having an "actual team" i work with some of the best people i know but other then nipping out for a minute to chug a cig , our summertime business doesn't really allow for breaks. Winter time when our volume is significantly lower theres plenty of fuck around time.

I’m on facts. You have 4 people helping you and your doing less labor intensive work. You’d think people start in the pit but they don’t.Ill say it again, cooking is easy.

Ha! I too recently left dishwashing to be a janitor. I make more money for much easier work. I get breaks. It's such a step up.

Honestly the issue with my last job is we got barely any breaks.
