I ordered wrong esc size it could be fine if i use adapter and put my fc below then adapter in the middle and esc on the top?

Been working on this drone frame for a while now.
It’s fully designed and manufactured by me.
It’s so satisfying to see something go from and idea to cad to an actual function thing that’s works how I want it.
Couldn’t post go pro footage because I got the wrong sd card but I will have the right one soon so if u care stay tooned.

So a drone is part of my engineering project and I know its a bit late to ask atp, I made some research but had some problems. I have 450mm frame speedybee f405 v4 stack with 60A esc, dji 2212/920kV motors, soaring sky 2200 14,8V 4S1P 30C lipo battery, I had 1045 propellers but it didn't lift with these (I'm not 100% sure why), so I swaped them for 8045 this time. My question is will it technicly fly or am I screwed? The drone weights 1kg

I'm planning to buy a Skydroid G20 and Skydroid C11 camera. Has anybody been able to put this together and did a range test?
I would like to know how many km/miles does it support to give a live feed on the controller and how far out do Skydroid G20 give to control the range? I'm unable to find any independent review online and looking for something that can easily cover 5km or so.
Also, I will be installing the camera in a 10 inch FPV frame with a 3D printed folding landing gear. Just saying.

Got everything firmware wise dialed.
Really just focused on cosmetics, I cut new plates with some logos I made engraved and gave it a decent paint job (it’s definitely not perfect but if it was it probably would get messed up anyway from crashing)
I got the wrong sd card for my go pro . I’m going to just have to post dvr footage soon until I can get another one

Been on a bit of a drone design binge, had this video popup that left me wandering what are they using for the wings.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzB1-vpkEDA
At around the 7:30 min mark, they begin making the wings and it looks like its the ribs are made from playwood/cf but the part that interested me what the white outer layer. They dont cover what it is or made from. At 12:38 you can see them split this mold and remove like a bunch of white adhesive/epoxy.
So the question is, what is this white outer skin/layer made from and or how?

Hello (I do not have much experience or knowledge in circuitry so bear with me and my shoddy diagram), but I am trying to wire up a head-mounted display to an analog camera, both using CVBS video data.
The issue is that the camera does not accept RCA cables, as it takes ground and video data in separate pins, and power in another pin.
My idea is using an adapter to split the RCA cable into a respective cable for ground and video. I would then connect the video cable input to the video output pin on the camera, and then splice the return/ground pin from the camera together with the respective ground cable from the RCA cable, and into the negative pole of the battery.
The battery would then have its positive pole connected to the positive pole of the display, and the negative pole of the display connected to the positive pole of the camera, so that they are connected in series.
Because the power supply for the battery is USB, i would use an adapter to split the positive and negative pole of the USB into two cables, and then connect those cables to the 5V battery.
Would this setup work, or would I end up short circuiting everything?

I know this is going to be controversial but whatever. I got an awesome new 3d printer a few months ago (snapmaker u1) and my nephew who is into engineering stuff with me asked if we could print a drone which is what lead me to join r/diydrones. I was feeling pretty discouraged by all of the posts with people saying 3d printed drones can't work and the vibration will shake it apart so I decided to put the problem to AI.
Yes, some of you hate AI, get it out of the way. Ok, you still here? Great.
I've been working for 2 years on a way to get good reliable engineering designs out of LLM's. TLDR: I think the trick is to apply the software unit testing approach by having external trusted verifiers check stuff so the AI can loop hard before you go print/assemble/order-the-pcb/mill-the-thing/whatever. I am writing a paper on it and I created a free open source plugn called nopekit for coding agents like claude code that does this and has a built in starter pack of verifiers.
Long story short, I used nopekit to design a cheap, easy to print, easy to assemble drone called PETGasus that the verifiers say should work. I was surprised that the flight time is estimated to be only about 3 minutes and that that is apparently kinda normal?
Anyway, I'm going to order the parts and print this thing and see if it flies but first I wanted to take some bets and get some feedback. What do you think, will it work? Are these good choices for the board/battery/motors? Should I make changes before I get it?
You can see the whole design and the evidence here: PETGasus

This was the 3rd flight for my 7" drone. I have no idea what caused it to crash like that, luckily the only damage was some bent props. At first I though that I flew out of range but my hardware (Avatar GT2 and a Foxeer ELRS 2.4g receiver) should extend far beyond where I was flying. Currently my theory is that the GT2 caused a brown out. However it is connected to 12V and the OSD recording does not show a sudden spike.

Hey everyone, I'm working on a transforming drone project and could really use a sanity check on a mechanical design since my background isn't in ME. I'm trying to figure out the best way to physically implement a specific wheel thruster assembly.
The basic idea is that the outer wheel needs to be driven by a timing belt and pulley setup, but right in the center of this wheel, there needs to be a BLDC flight motor that stays completely stationary while the outer wheel spins around it. On top of that, the three phase wires for that inner BLDC motor need to pass directly through the center of the wheel assembly and route back into the main chassis without twisting or getting tangled when the robot drives on the ground.
I understand the rough concept of keeping the core fixed while the rim spins, but I'm struggling to picture the exact mechanical stack on how to implement it. How would you guys go about implementing this in CAD? Something like these pictures.
Pictures are from ATMO research paper.

Hey there, I had to fly my drone today and I am sooo happy. It powered by 2200 mah 3 s battery with 2210 1000kv motors and analog camera, mark 9 inch frame.
I am not sure though if I picked optimal components for it, my friend that flew with me had a little smaller drone powered by 6S and half of my batter capacity, but somehow even under very aggressive flying his flight time was 6-8 mins compared to my 4-5 mins.
So I was curious of higher S batteries are more efficient and i should consider switching to them. Please leave me an advice in the comments. Would deeply appreciate your opinion.

Added a high-voltage spark generator to my 5 inch FPV drone, controlled via ELRS & ESP32
the original goal was just learning high-voltage circuits and building a basic arc generator. It eventually evolved into this drone mod as a fun experiment. Just a hobbyist learning project, keeping it safe in the workshop!

This is a guy from the ”goofy first drone build” post.
Decided that this goofy flip also belongs here.

Where is a good source for drone parts. The one I'm looking for specifically right now is a night vision camera but if the offer other parts that's a plus.

How do you think I did for the first 5 inch and first build
r/diydrones • u/Rough-Performance433 • 2d ago
I really struggled with a mounts cuz the frame I used was very different from once on the internet. I had to use rulers to measure every detail and that was super inefficient.
Any better ways?

I am building a long distance drone for a capstone project and my professor ordered a power board and flight computer separately. I thought that these usually came as a combo or in a stack. I was looking at pitching a combo/stack to him but I wanted some opinions and recs before I go asking. I can list off the other stuff he ordered as well if any of that could help build a better picture.

Need a cheap rotor for a tiltrotor drone that can get around 8-12kg thrust, using a 22 inch propeller. Can anybody find an alternative that isn't of Chinese origin?
