Question Alt 8th Doctors query! (Big Finish)
I'm currently researching alternate versions of the Doctor - can anyone clarify whether the following versions of the 8th Doctor are temporary changes, parallel-timeline versions of the Doctor, duplicates, or something else?
- The 'Axon Doctor' from 'Master!': "Planet Doom"): McGann in his new series costume, with gold skin and pin-pong-ball eyes
- A partially Krynoidised 8th Doctor in 'Planet Krynoid': "Nightfall").

I’m pretty sure the Krynoid version was the actual 8th Doctor, just infected by the Krynoids.
Can’t recall about the Axon Doctor though.

If I recall correctly the Axon doctor was a duplicate created by the axons and the krynoid doctor was the doctor temporarily infected by a krynoid

Do you happen to remember whether the Axon Doctor has any of the real Doctor's personality, or just looks like him?

The Doctor is in the story & I believe the Axon was able to take some of his personality, but I don't believe the Axon Doctor is actually in the story that much. It's been a while since I've listened tho.

The Silver Doctor is an automaton based on the 8th Doctor in The Silver Turk.

The Krynoid Doctor is really him, but that specific photo is from after he cryogenically froze himself to kill the infection, so technically that is just the normal Eighth Doctor with a rag of dead Krynoid on him.

The War Doctor wanted to rescue a war-time companion, Case, from the Daleks. At this point in the story, she was basically a super-computer strategist working with the Time Strategist. She started breaking down and the War Doctor basically snuck a digital version of the 8th Doctor in with a cybernetic Time Lord medic to help. In the end, she died, but had her last moments having adventures with the digital 8th Doctor.

"She was paraded in front of the Dalek Emperor by the Time Strategist, but she did not like that she was just a weapon. She was then taken to the Time Strategist's own quarters to continue her missions. She eventually became ill and was taken to an abducted Time Lord medic captured by the Strategist, the Nurse, who aimed to treat her. She recovered enough that Auto Case became online, but the Nurse thought she was burnt out. During the Doctor's attack on the Strategist's compound, she saw a vision of the Eighth Doctor created via the Doctor's hacking into the Nurse. She alerted the Dalek of the Doctor's presence, but this allowed the wider Dalek Pathweb of the Strategist's impure experiments, and the emperor ordered her destruction.
Continuing to think the Eighth Doctor was really there, she hid the Doctor and herself from the Daleks and believed herself to escape with him; in reality, she was being manipulated into a dream state by the War Doctor where she would live out an ideal life adventuring with the Eighth Doctor while her body died, left behind as the Dalek Emperor had the Strategist's base destroyed. With only a copy of her mind left, the false Eighth Doctor promised the War Doctor he would keep Case safe in the dream state while the real Doctor left to continue his campaign, (AUDIO: Exit Strategy [+]) determinated to never again take on a companion."
