[Misc Help] Kids tent for thunder

Anyone ever try putting the dog bed in a small tent for thunderstorms? My dog shakes. He gets trazadone but can’t relax. I thought maybe the covering over his head would help.

Have you tried a thundervest? It might work better than the tent alone.

I keep looking at it, but it always has mixed reviews. I wish I could try it before I spend the money. Maybe I can find a used one on Facebook marketplace. Thanks.

They have a 60 day money back guarantee (or at least they did a few years back, not sure abt now) . If you buy from an authorized retailer like a big pet store, their store return policy should allow for thundervest’s policy, but you can always return it to thundervest directly. I had to do an exchange because the sizing was too small and it was super easy, kinda like how Amazon returns used to be.

Try a t-shirt and then tie it "snuggly" around them. Or look up how to use a ace bandage to wrap them, use to use both for my lab who only noise issue was fireworks.

I would think behind toilet is too small for a golden. That is one determined pup.

My dog didn’t really care for thunderstorms in fact she slept thru them lol meanwhile I stayed up waiting until they went by

My late shepherd cross was fond of the small walk-in closet. It was his safe space.

Talk to your vet about Sileo.
We’ve found it way better than trazadone for noise phobia. It is an oral gel and acts faster, without heavy sedation.
Our dog like to get under the deck downstairs or on the bed with us in storms.

I will ask. Thanks. Mine sits right next to me and shakes.

We would go into the interior bathroom with them, turn on exhaust fan and shower, and that would eventually help ours calm down. It did work.

Occasionally, I can get him into the bathroom. But the bathroom door faces toward the window. He can see the lightning flashes and knows that thunder is coming. I have to put a blanket over the window. I do put a speaker close to the window and turn up the TV to mask the sound.

Have you tried a happy hoodie? That will help block sounds. I use it when blowdrying my dog with the high velocity blow dryer and it makes a big difference. Some dogs also find the pressure from a hoodie comforting, similar to a thundershirt except with the added bonus of helping to block out sound.
