I had to take breaks while reading it (and I admit I peeked ahead to the end), because it does hurt. So well written though.

Ahh YES, you beat me to it with How We Stay Afloat 😍 I read it last week, and it is CRIMINAL that it was still under 100 kudos 😵💫😵💫
Also seconding Werewolves of London and Gimme Friction, my absolute faves they can't get enough love 😍😍 And now I need to go and find some more since you stole my thunder 😂❤️

🤣🤣🤣🤣
I might have started the How We stay Afloat recs when I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago. I discovered it from someone's bookmarks I think.
Yes Gimme Friction was just hilarious! And Werewolves of London had just the perfect amount of angst.
Your rec list below is impressive, thank you! Will check some of these out for sure ❤️😍

Ahhh you beauty, what a great list! So I got the rec from someone on discord, but I know there's a few of us that hang out here too, so it could well have originated or been remembered from yours 🥰 It definitely deserves a lot more love (and hopefully persuade the author to write more Drarry 🙏)

Futile Devices by trickdaggers. It's one of my all-time favourites, and I am waiting to forget what happened before I reread it, but it is a struggle.
Beyond the plot being just amazing, the writing is beautiful. The type that has your eyes rolling in the back of your head because you wish you were that good.

Think you might like my one shot Even Good Boys Bleed. I’ll drop the summary here in case. There’s also a podfic if you like to listen.
Summary: When Draco Malfoy finds Harry Potter standing over a dead body, everything changes.
Lies unravel. Betrayals surface. Every truth uncovered cuts deeper than the last.
And when the lines between good and bad, light and dark, right and wrong become irrevocably blurred, Draco and Harry find love somewhere in the gray.
This is not a redemption story.
This is a love story.
*****
OR - A sixth year retelling that begs the question: What if it was Harry Potter who killed Dumbledore in the Astronomy Tower that night? If you're thinking to yourself, "but that is impossible, Harry would NEVER," consider this my argument to the contrary.

I will dig through my bookmarks and history for more over the weekend, but the first one that came to mind for me was The Lucena Position by hanlovespasta (rated E, 47k). It’s a unique premise and so beautifully done!
Summary: During his three-year house arrest, Draco Malfoy’s world is shrinking, until a casual game in a solarium ignites something unexpected: ambition. Chess becomes more than just a pastime; it’s a lifeline.
But nothing could've prepared Draco for the crushing eight-move defeat in Vienna, where Harry Potter reminds him who’s the reigning king of the board.
What follows is an unexpected wager: a bet that feels like putting everything he's ever known on the line. Now Draco is chasing prize money for his mother's medical care, the coveted Grandmagister title, and maybe something more complicated altogether.
No distractions allowed. Especially not Harry fucking Potter.

hello hello! yay! yes! fics! here we go:
dispersion, scattering by fervent - you'll want to build your own darkroom after this
yield by fervent - yearning, hot summer, feel the rain crashing on the windshield
Epitaphs in Autographs (Series of 2 one-shot fics) by Vukovich - major angst, not for the faint of heart, check the tags
Trucker's Atlas by Anonymous (from kinkmeme) - still have dust lodged in my throat just from reading the first page of this
Do You Want to Play a Game? (series of 2 quick lil one-shots) by orphan_account - just real glance into that moment, so restrained but there. smushing cheek onto museum glass to see what's happening sort-of distance
The Boys of Summer by eight_of_wands - oh. well. HAPPINESS. :)))))))))))) that's what this is.

Oof, a lot I could recommend but I see quite a few are already posted so I'll stick to this one:
Harry Potter and The Locked Circle by ghostash
Lovely slow burn eighth-year fic with an ongoing mystery around a prominent Goblin activist who's disappeared and what appears to be a secret organisation. Fantastic world building and characterisation. It's a WIP but on chapter 24 out of 26, and the author has consistently posted weekly so if you don't do WIPs, subscribe to it so you can see when it's finished.
It's currently under 30 kudos which I think is criminally underrated for such a well written fic. Possibly because it's the author's first long fic? (They post mostly artwork, which is also beautiful - check it out!)

There are actually so many I could list I reckon, but a few off the top of my head:
Want for Nothing
Summary: Astoria was dead and Draco Malfoy decided all that was left to do was to stuff a leaf into his mouth and become an Animagus.
After his wife Astoria dies at the hands of a blood curse, Draco Malfoy falls under investigation; except the Auror assigned to his case is Harry Potter, and Harry Potter has a very different opinion of Draco than everybody else, including Draco himself.
The Isle of Ogygia
The summary is only one line long, which is maybe why people aren't enticed? But it's citrusses, who never misses. And it is excellent 👌
Draco Malfoy and the Multiverse of What the Fuck
Summary: Draco can jump timelines. Potter is in (almost) all of them.
..Another one with a short summary. I'm always shouting about this one. I just find it so hilarious.
Exposure Therapy
Summary: When Pansy had suggested, that uniquely Slytherin smile on her face, that Harry should bring some of the animals from his accidental reptile rescue in for the kids at Draco's work – like he’d needed the reminder that Malfoy had become a respected paediatric healer on top of his unfairly good looks – he'd known it was probably a risky idea. But she'd picked her setup well, because what kind of arsehole says no to sick kids?
Or: Harry invites Draco back to Grimmauld to try to get over his fear of snakes. It somehow turns into weekly appointments for Harry to try to teach Draco Parseltongue. Lucky neither of them is nursing a ridiculous and not-very-well-hidden crush, huh?
I Ain't Afraid Of No Bed
Summary: Ghostly sexual extortion is simply an occupational hazard in this line of work.
Hands, Off
Summary: "Potter,” Malfoy gritted out as he walked over. “This is a matter of life or death. I won’t be hurt if you have to close your eyes and pretend I’m someone else.”
Harry knocks over an ancient pureblood artefact, accidentally bonding him to Draco. Sex is the only obvious and quick solution to their current predicament, or so Draco says anyway.
Bite Me Summary: *Harry had never been good at living. How could anyone really expect him to be, with his upbringing? It didn’t really scream functional adult. So it wasn’t a surprise that he sucked at being a vampire. The surprise was the level of sucking.
Or, more accurate, lack thereof.*
Don't Stop Me Now
Summary: *Harry Potter is the best Seeker in the Intergalactic M-Quid League. He's also bored, lonely, and spending his nights on the SYNK tipping small streamers anonymously just to feel a bit better about himself. One night he finds a streamer with zero viewers by the name of "Dragon", who seems to be curiously inept at technology for this day and age.
Dragon doesn't know who Harry Potter is. Harry would like to keep it that way.*
Outpace the Dawn
Summary: *Twelve years ago, Draco Malfoy left England for good, and left Malfoy Manor in the hands of Harry Potter.
Now, strange things are happening at the Manor, and Harry has to track down a man who doesn't want to be found.*
^ All of these have under 800 kudos (many far less) and I cannot for the life of me work out why 🫠🫠🫠
