I guess it’s good news that we have more info about this. Still so many unanswered questions though.

It's too bad Canada does not have controls on people leaving the country. Could better keep track of population numbers and visitors that overstay.... As well as criminals

What do you mean "controls on leaving the country"? Your passport gets scanned at the airport multiple times before an international flight.

So the government doesn't track who leaves the country. The airline knows who is on the flight but the government doesn't collect that data outside of any checking for terrorists.

Passport is scanned by the airline and only boarding pass is scanned when leaving at security.

Figured the airline passes all that info onto the government.

I reckon the kind of flags that show up on an immigration officer's system on a physical passport check (including checking for document authenticity) likely don't get shown to airline employees (probably well beyond their ambit or legal jurisdiction).

CBSA also has major disconnects where their database does not link multiple travel documents together, even if you have given them information somewhere along the way. I travelled a lot for work and asked the passport officer how many days I have been out of Canada this year, the lady simply said they don't have that information.

Both directions of travel definitely need to be checked by CBSA, even if just electronically.

Before the racists or bots pounce without reading the article, he didn't run away to India or the middle east. Just saying! ;)

We need to get to the real topic at hand, problems coming from outside and taking over. This guy is a non-issue, look at him lol
