Need help

Made a throwaway account to keep things as anonymous as possible. I am currently facing homelessness after having to flee an abusive familial relationship. I am looking for advice/ support as to what my next steps should be. I am a young woman with no kids and currently need help with housing and just the will to keep going. I am currently looking at different shelters if anyone has any recommendations, stories or advice that would be great.

If youre fleeing an abusive situation you would be best to file a police report. You dont have to nevesarily press charges but if the situation escalates you have documentation to back you up.

Dial 211 for local resources at any time. Their website also has search options. https://211central.ca/#subtopic_anchor

John Howard Society has a housing program that you may find useful.

I dont know what area of Durham you are in but Bethesda House (Bowmanville) and Denise House (Oshawa) are homeless shelters for abused women and children.

Muslim Welfare Canada has emergency shelter in Whitby (dont have to be Muslim, the agency kept an old name) they also have a lot of services to help the homeless.

Best of luck to you. Feel free to dm me.
