How do I dye this? Would dye work on this?
Thinking of purchasing but don’t like it in white and wondering how it would dye. Fabric makeup is: 85% Livaeco™ Viscose, 15% Nylon.

Dyeing doesn’t guarantee results for a multitude of reasons- minerals in your water, treatments of fabric by the manufacturer, how big or small your container is. As a general rule, we do not advise you dye anything you would be sad to “ruin” if dyeing goes awry
That being said, viscose dyes well with fiber reactive dyes. Dharma Trading has all the info and supplies you will need. You will need a large enough container for the fabric to move around in (you must agitate it to prevent uneven dyeing) that you cannot use for food preparation afterwards. A top loading washing machine also works well for this purpose.

Sure. Since it's majority viscose, you can get away with dyeing it as for cellulose. Just keep in mind the nylon won't dye so it might have a heathered look with white fibers throughout. The stitching almost certainly won't dye because it's almost certainly polyester. The lace/detailing may not dye or may dye differently because detailing may be of a different fiber makeup and won't always be included on the fabric label.
Buying something just to dye it if you're not otherwise interested in dyeing as a hobby is kind of a terrible idea though. Dye isn't a magic easy way to change a color. It also comes with the possibility of ruining whatever you're dyeing. If you are interested in dyeing as a hobby, and you do want to invest the time and the money for supplies, and you are ok with possibly ruining this dress in the process, then by all means. Otherwise, buy a dress in the color you want; it'll be cheaper and easier.

Depends the color you want.

I’m not hugely fussy, but something mid, or dark saturation. I just don’t want it white because I’m guaranteed to get stains on it 😩
Are there any particular colours that would be more likely to take well, or take badly?

Our wiki is currently under construction however: there's a good chance your question has been answered in a previous post.
If you are dyeing cellulose fibres (cotton, hemp, linen, ramie, flax, nettle, rayon, bamboo, tencel, plants generally, etc.), you will need a fiber reactive dye.
If you are dyeing a protein fiber (wool, alpaca, llama, Angora, mohair, feathers, animal stuff generally, etc.), you will need an acid dye.
Leather is dyed with leather specific dyes such as those from Angelus.
Silk will dye with either acid or fiber reactive dyes but will yield different results depending on which you use.
Polyester can sometimes be dyed. It can only be dyed with synthetic specific dyes such as iDye Poly or RIT Dyemore. It usually cannot achieve a dark or rich colour at home. Acrylic usually cannot be dyed at all.
