Bought this from a person who said he got it signed in person in Cologne Germany in 2000. He also sent another pic showing the autograph he got personalized to himself.

I’ll have random moments where I get lost in an emotional reverie over Elliott. I listen to his music all the time but that doesn’t always force me to think about the reality of his life and his tragic story. Looking at this graphic for long enough consistently brings me to that place.

I don’t think it’s simply because it’s a sad looking picture with sad colors. Somehow representing him in this reduced way where we only see his most recognizable parts, to me, captures him more clearly than even his actual photos. He’s a bright spot on a wasteland. Elliott had that kind of relationship with the world. It was uninhabitable to him yet all the better, and happier, for him being in it.

His minimalist caricature also has an element of mythology to it, as if he’s some worn and faded old legend relegated to a dusty page in a history book. I think that gets at the heart of it. This image plainly communicates the fact that this is history, cemented and final, and no longer an unfolding story. And that makes me sad.

Wanted to get into fall spirit and this was one of the first things that came to mind. I’m proud of it honestly. New Moon carved pumpkin

i wanted to show off my ES tattoo, i did it myself which is why it’s not technically perfect but i’ve always loved the look of my other imperfect stick and pokes from a few years ago so i finally did this one, which i’ve been wanting for a long time.

i was thinking about whether i wanted a syringe needle or a sewing needle but i ended up going with a sewing needle because i liked the aspect of creation (like making/fixing something with sewing), and the idea of how to get to the end, where you have this nice finished sewing project, it takes a lot of time “hurting” the fabric (like by stabbing it with the needle). it kind of makes me think about the confusion between healing versus hurting yourself. as well as the pain and hardship involved with healing/moving on.

and the location was of course inspired by the line “haystack charm around your neck”, i didn’t do the actual necklace part but i put the needle on my chest in the spot where it would fall if it was a pendant

i love all the falling men and figure 8 tattoos, and i do want to get one of those since so many people have them, it’s cool, like a little elliott smith club, but for my first one i wanted something personal to me.
i think im going to get the falling men over my heart once i save up some money, since i dont really think i can do those at home

really wanna get the new “nobody broke your heart” book, is it a good representation and informational? wanna know more about his actual story and the internet/docs i’ve seen point me in just so many different directions . and any other books, articles or any recommendations for stuff like that would be appreciated:3 <3

Hey all, I had a terrific conversation with author Jamie Fisher about her biography of Elliott Smith, and I wanted to share the talk with a gift link. Here, she shared a story that a friend of Elliott's told her.

"...they’d be at a bar and people who were just fans would want to come up to talk to him and people would just want to touch him, like they wanted to feel like he was real. There was something about him that invited closeness and invited care."

well. I am feeling like a bit of a dullard. I've been a fan since I was a teenager (I'm in my early 40s), and for some reason..... I have always wondered why (in the song Angeles)he says the word 'cure' so weird in the line "trailing some new cure".

well it's because he is saying the word "kill". not cure. for whatever reason I have never looked at those lyrics specifically while listening to that song, and my memory retention is crap.

anyway, some levity for today, and now my brain accepts he is not saying cure really weird 🤣

idk, i think, as with a bunch of other fandoms, that there is a certain atmosphere that you cant really explain unless your in it. i like it here, even if it gets sad sometimes. i was on a brake from his music for a while because of some mental issues but now i'm back to just being exited by hearing all these happiness inducing sounds. makes my day. what a guy

side note : learned how to play happiness and roman candle recently, my goal till the end of the year is to learn (or at least start to learn) tomorrow tomorrow. i saw a cover by "Ethans Guitar Lessons And Music" and holy shit are you kidding me? maybe its mind blowing to me coz i'm still somewhat a beginner but damn, i wanna be able to play that song like that lol . anyways, hope you all have a good one. i know a lot of us are struggling and its really hard to find peace and safety in our own minds sometimes, but lets try to make today a good day, you've go it :) love -Rose
